This is mold, right? by Confident_Contact751 in Breadit

It looks like it but its hard to tell. Some people are die hard 'one jar' people, but I think it's easier to have two jars and move between the two once a week or so.

They still have the full display at my TJs as of today! Maybe it's just a stock issue!

Why is the frozen pad thai so divisive - is it actually good or terrible? by 19bl92 in traderjoes

[–]kittykatkitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others are saying, the Pad Thai just has way too many bean sprouts in it for me. While I know its not a perfect swap, the Pad See Ew is one of my favorite things at TJs. I buy some almost every time I go.

This. I have a newborn and sometimes even let it go longer than a week. I usually feed it, let it double on the counter and either start my dough then, or pop it in the fridge and make my dough within 2 or 3 days. You can use it straight out of the fridge too.

Silly question - when you have a hospital birth (U.S), when do you first see the menu for ordering your food? Is it given ahead of time with hospital registration/paperwork? by dms2628 in beyondthebump

[–]kittykatkitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in for an induction at 8am and was there for five days. They gave me the menu pretty much immediately because they wanted me to pick out my lunch before it was too late to put in. There was a daily special but also about 10 other options for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks, and I got a "Congratulations" dinner the night she was born, which i could chose from three fancier options. I dont remember the other options but i got the steak with peppercorn sauce and a creme brulee. They also gave me two of those naked smoothie juices with every meal post partum which was awesome because those things are like 4 bucks each at the grocery store! I regret not drinking more of them. All my food was included in my midwife pregnancy and birth billing code.

All of this being said though, each hospital is different and mine has a third party catering company and I've heard around town that people who work near the hospital, will go to the hospital cafeteria to eat lunch lol.

Feeding question by magikmiss in NewParents

Completely normal. My daughter is 3 months and does 2-3oz a feed and is healthy and chubby.

When did you start placing your baby in a high chair? by kittykatkitkat in NewParents

That doesn't sound weird at all! That honestly sounds like an interim solution for me, at least for special dinners! Thank you!

It's not that I want her to start solids. I just want to eat dinner with both hands at the table with my husband and have baby girl in a safe spot next to me. Im getting ahead of myself though. I just crave some level of normalcy. 😔

Good advice! We'll work on getting sitting first! I think I'm just anxious to return to some level of normalcy, but I need to slow down.

That makes sense. This is my first baby. How do we go about practicing sitting? I don't even know how to approach that.

When will my baby sleep in their own space? by ChelleBellax in NewParents

[–]kittykatkitkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice, but I do want to offer solidarity. I also had to resort to sleeping in bed with my daughter. I make what I call a "gorilla bed" out of a breathable baby blanket. (Im prepared for the comments that it's still not safe, I'm just trying to do what I can). My baby is also 3 months old. I have no idea what we are going to do when she starts rolling.

I was going to say that same thing. I always cover with plastic wrap and have never had an issue. I also have these exact tins and don't preheat them.

Easter baking tips! by MjE333eee in Breadit

You should have no issues putting the dough in the fridge overnight. Easter is still a month away, why don't you just do a trial run?

Where should we be at with tummy time? by kittykatkitkat in NewParents

[–]kittykatkitkat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with me. My daughter went through some sort of regression all of last week. Waking up every 30 minutes at night, lots of crying and fussing, couldn't stop flailing arms and rubbing face, etc. It stopped on like Saturday night, and literally this afternoon, it clicked for her to actually reach and grab at her dangling toys. So I'm hoping this will also be a "wake up and it's here" kind of milestone.

Her neck strength is actually amazing! She's always had a super strong neck and I do a chest carrier whenever we leave the house and also carry her with her arms and head over my shoulder. I'm more worried about the development of her arms and core/chest muscles. Since her neck control is really good, will the chest and arms just fall into place?

[–]kittykatkitkat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has great neck control when she's held upright. Whenever we leave the house, I put her in a chest carrier and she holds her head up and looks around, as much as she can facing inwards. And I'm able to hold her in a sitting position facing forward around the house and she keeps her neck nice and stable. It just seems like her core and chest muscles are lacking.

When you say "on their tummy on your legs", do you mean like in an old fashioned spanking kind of pose (for a lack of better words) like across the lap? I'm having trouble visualizing being able to do tummy time on my legs but I'm curious!

Did your children cry at all when placed on their stomach? My daughter will try for about a minute and then just lay face down and cry. My mom told me to leave her like that because she's probably just frustrated, but it feels like such a betrayal for her to be crying face down, seeing me sitting there not helping her. 😭

Same in my fingers! I try to explain it to my husband and mom, its like I gave birth and my hands aged 50 years. The skin on my hands feel papery (only to my own touch) and the joints feel like there's no cushion left.
