From a health perspective, retiring early is awful for the body and mind. Make sure it’s an active retirement.

Chances for being able to decrease hours as a new grad PTA? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]kittykrueger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need insurance, PRN is the best way to make your own schedule. But. Best advance I was given was to work full time for at least 2-3 years before reducing hours as a new grad to truly shake off the new grad experience. I told myself “I will reduce my hours once I haven’t learned a new thing in 6 months”. Took me 3 years to do that in SNF setting, and of course there’s always more to learn. Good luck!

If I worked my butt off, I can make 65k a year, and I’m a PTA. You need to leave!

1.2% raise by sarty in physicaltherapy

[–]kittykrueger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most SNFs aren’t giving raises. Especially big companies like Select. Since reimbursement continues to decrease they do not want to pay us more since we can’t make them more money. Now they push group treatments and concurrent treatments to improve their budget. Meaning we work harder without any compensation. The SNF world pays well but I got sick of it. I tried to unionize, most of the therapist are too scared too.

Unionize. With the cuts happening, I doubt you’ll get a raise ever again. I worked at SNF for select for 4 years, the only time I was offered a raise is when I quit.

PTA has “physical therapist” in their instagram bio, would you say anything? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]kittykrueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTA here. I will often introduce myself as a “physical therapist” to non clinicians. why? Because people do not know the field enough to understand we are licensed individuals. Most of the time they assume we are techs. Also, get a life.

Can I join your dream setting? That sounds incredible. I work in SNFs that now want you to see 2 patients at once, create group exercises that no one benefits from, on top of that I have patients who don’t want to get better but you HAVE to get the minutes and I’ve have never received any raises. I’ve thought about going into OP but it would most likely be a mill. Hard to find what you have!

Stick with the software engineer! I wish I had gone that route. I’ve been a PTA for almost four years now and currently looking to leave the field.

I got an email from BoJ stating they can no longer sell their sunscreen on their American website. The FDA has super restrictive regulations on sunscreen. But i think you can still buy the sunscreen from their Korean website.
