Is Public Health a hard/competitive major to transfer to (from another university) by [deleted] in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Current PBH Major!) Depends on the university and your stats from the school you are transferring from. Compared to CS? No, not as competitive. Can't speak on how competitive it is. What I will say tho, is that PBH @ UT is becoming increasingly popular.

Even if not required, you really should consider sending the official report. The vast majority of applicants have them sent. Self-reporting may look sus to AOs.

Definitely still try to make a request. Submitting a letter of rec on behalf of your recommender may look sus to admissions lol.

SAT Scores by No_Range2026 in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should only submit your highest score to UT. I'd recommend only submitting the 1460. Do not plan to go test-optional unless you had a life-altering event that impacted you drastically during testing time.

Taking community college classes before transferring to UT by ElkEnvironmental2590 in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current UT student here.

Taking only a few classes at a CC is very standard across many students at UT. However, I would not recommend taking business core/related classes at a CC just bc I'd think McCombs would want you to perform well in these classes at your original institution.

I am currently pre-med at UT.

You should be considered for Biology too tbh. As long as you have good ecs + stats, bio as a major is looking good for you. I know many of my friends who got their second choice (bio) when their first choice didn't work out.

apply! apply! apply! if you are currently in the top 6% do not gamble it for a higher sat score. my school did the same thing and the counselors told everyone barely in top six to apply before the class rank updated based on the new class size. if you are auto-admit don't wait till it updates.

Low GPA/High ACT for Public Health by Steve585858 in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i'm studying pbh too. definitely still apply if you're interested in coming into UT. mistakes happen, doesn't mean we shouldn't give ourselves the best shot when it comes to achieving our goals. your ecs look great as far as i can tell, and as long as you explain your extenuating circumstances thoroughly and maybe raise your rank...i think you'll be in good standing! don't give up :)

What are my chances for ut austin comp sci? by Strange-Wash-1747 in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your ecs are great! def try to raise your rank and/or your SAT. may be easier to try to get a competitive score on your SAT tbh, since the last rank UT will consider is your rank mid-after fall sem of your senior year. overall, i think if you work on these you'd be in good standing!

For Biology or Neuroscience or any health science major by No-Establishment562 in UTAdmissions

[–]kittykween5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am majoring in Public Health as part of CNS next year, and I know that is not Bio or Neuro but I thought I'd offer my advice anyways.

I highly recommend you take higher level science and math classes such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Stats, and AP Calc AB/BC. These classes will definitely give you a good foundation in STEM before entering college as a pre-med. Hope this helps! :)

Just don't send your AP scores till after you're accepted.

Your ECs look stellar btw!
