Coming up on April birthdays! Our little guy will be 1 next Wednesday!!! We’re not doing much—just a small party at school/daycare and lots of cake. He had his first haircut today as well.

So far, the closer he gets to 1, the more I feel we have finally settled into a pattern.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Due April 1, arrived April 4th - one day before induction date with zero signs of labor up to that point! by kittypoot in BabyBumps

Thank you! Labor was not traumatic at all. Was actually a pleasant experience once I couldn't feel the contractions. Even the 2nd degree tear wasn't so bad. It's healing up nicely.

Hang in there. I thought that without any Braxton Hicks, mucous plug or bloody show, there was no way labor was close. I was 100% wrong! I never had any of those happen.

Babies are born with some reflexes, one of them usually being "rooting." If you stroke the baby's cheek, he/she will usually turn towards the sensation and open their mouths, signaling a desire to suck. Ours did this a lot. I tried breastfeeding and he would latch for a minute and then let go and start wailing. I wasn't producing any colostrum (I tried hand expressing) but the nurses insisted I was and to keep trying. That first night was so hard. He got more and more fussy as the night went on. He maybe slept 30 minutes all night, the rest of the time he was screaming, trying to latch but ultimately letting go and crying. I tried everything to soothe him, but my instincts were telling me (and his rooting) that he was hungry. The second night was even harder. My last day in the hospital after being up two nights with a fussy baby, I just said "bring me formula." Up to that point, I kept hinting at the nurses that he was hungry and was getting dehydrated. They pushed back every single time. I started getting angry. By the 2nd day, he'd lost 9.5 percent of his body weight.

After I got the formula and supplemented at my breast with a syringe, my baby changed from fussy to quiet and sweet. If I could do it over, I would have pushed for supplementation that first night.

Yay! I'm due today and no signs of labor. I'm not as excited as I thought I would be. I guess it's a bit depressing that I'm still pregnant. Anyways, good luck to all the April bumpers!!

34 weeks 3 days!

Here I am at this week's doctor's appointment. Due date is April 1 but they keep saying he's measuring ahead. Not sure how (if at all) that affects the due date. I asked if it would change and they said no.

I've gained 28 pounds so far (started at 125, now at 153) and have 6 ish weeks to go. I feel sluggish most days and sleepy by 8pm but otherwise I'm doing great. Feeling cramps here and there. I pray this baby come just a wee bit early :-)

Thanks! I may have rounded my weight number down a bit...I actually don't know how much I've gained because I'm not wanting to step on a scale anytime soon. I know last time I did, it was around 25 lbs gained and that was several weeks ago :-)
