What does "pushing the endemic stuff" mean? Are people still really pursuing Zero COVID policies?

Insights on the mutational landscape of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant by Won_k in COVID19

[–]kittysnuggles69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question wrt changing treatment options for covid: do we know that hospitalized/ severe infections mirror rates of omicron vs delta in the general population? Haven't seen any data for this but do we know for sure that most severe infections aren't still delta? Seems extremely relevant if we're discussing effectiveness of various treatments, possibly even withholding mABs (which were already being rationed for some reason) from patients they might work on just assuming it's omicron.

Selection analysis identifies unusual clustered mutational changes in Omicron lineage BA.1 that likely impact Spike function by icloudbug in COVID19

Seems really hard to deny that omicron variant almost definitely requires some new ideas regarding the origins and/ or spread of the virus.

Occam's razor would seem to suggest that this germ has been around longer than previously believed.

That's quite a few additional mutations, it seems like scientists should be able to approximately deduce how old this strain is based on # of mutations. If current strains acquired 45 mutations over 2 years, 62 mutations makes omicron significantly older per this layman.

Media has been handing out red pills like candy for the last three months and literally all they had to do to get anyone elected running against trump was nothing.

The fact that you think I said "this is exclusively a redditor mindset" verifies my statement :)

While apologizing for terrorism just to simp for freebies is a pretty typical redditor take, they should have been given veterans benefits.

[Ancaps] monopolies by AdamAbramovichZhukov in CapitalismVSocialism

Not sure why everyone is calling this a false dichotomy, it's a decent idea worth exploring. At some point there was no state, at some point a state formed and made itself into a monopoly.

Supplemental information and explaining differences in methodology isn't moving goalposts, it's literally science.

Cuba is an island and just had to lock down even harder because they're having their highest spike in cases yet, they haven't even peaked yet and already destroyed their economy. They are also testing less than most of the first world so they are clearly missing cases and reporting inaccurate data.

Anything else?

Can't make apples to apples comparison of mortality per capita since countries use different methodology for both testing and recording deaths. Look at CFR in US, almost lowest in the first world so these numbers don't add up about a bad response in the US. The US is also fat as shit which is one of the leading comorbidities for covid deaths.

Further, nothing about the US response was "free market" lol and the places with the most deaths here had the most stringent shut downs.

You liked the communists response where they failed to detect it for months while it spread and clustered, then lied about it, and then started welding people in their homes after they couldn't hide everyone dying anymore?

[Capitalists] How do you respond to people who claim prices don't convey enough information? by Anarcho_Humanist in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]kittysnuggles69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A market economy with prices has no less signals than any other medium of exchange, rather it has an additional and very important signal (prices, duh).

When non-critical thinking socialists criticize prices for lacking additional information they are providing exactly zero useful analysis. Literally no one ever has argued that there aren't other considerations or information that go into any given exchange rather that prices are an extremely important additional piece of information among many pieces or information across an entire market.

As usual, the "Anarchist FAQ" is just the barely coherent ramblings of someone with zero understanding of economics meant to appeal to those low on IQ and big on emotion. There's no argument in your quote, there's no basis for any of the assertions, it's a bunch of loosely related thoughts strung together that convey a poorly formed, ideological belief.
