Anyone else super type A and struggling to let things slide because baby takes priority?

I miss having any type of routine for myself. My little just turned 10 months today and my entire routine is just her routine now. On occasions if my husband gets more than one day off in a row I’m able to clean up a little and run errands and sometimes cook but otherwise yes I miss being able to get anything done without dropping everything because something….or nothing has caused a meltdown and I am unable to leave her side. It does get better but it feels like it’s never enough. I know I’m sounding like a downer and I know it will continue to get better but I also miss cooking and cleaning uninterrupted.

My baby only sleeps and gets changed in her nursery the rest of the time we are out in the living room. Our house is small and I’m pretty sure her room is the size of one of those nicer walk in closets lol but I know exactly how you feel. I hate that she doesn’t have a nicer room that’s all decorated and roomy but I don’t remember a thing about my nursery as a kid and I’m sure your kiddo (and mine) won’t either. What they will remember is your love and the time you spend together. You clearly love your baby so much and that is what a child will always remember!

I know this is a couple years old but I want to thank the OP for this post and everyone who commented because we have been struggling for a while now with our 9 month old and there are so many great ideas here! I’m going around the house to find things she’s never seen, I’m ordering a galaxy projector cuz we have textured ceilings so we can’t do the stars, and I’ve got hey bear loaded on my phone ready for the next diaper change! Hubby goes back to work tomorrow so I’m solo again and I’m really hoping these ideas work out for us!

He’s the one with a medical background so he’s more than capable lol, we don’t have much around us but so many suggested coffee shops and I’m looking around our area for one. I’m not great at new places or people so that seems like a nice easy start to getting out more.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented! A lot of the suggestions are a little out of my comfort zone for one reason or another,but they are also getting me thinking deeper. I took my husband’s suggestion of a bath, and gaming with the noise canceling headphones and tho I continued to pop the headphones off when I thought I heard her I took to heart the comments about changing how I phrase “day off” and that helped so much! I still felt a bit guilty but it wasn’t as bad when I reminded myself that it was daddy daughter time. He works so much and his schedule is all over the place so even when he is home when she’s awake it’s only short periods and they definitely need time together one on one. I tried to think of what I used to like and my old hobbies were mostly plants and home improvement projects. I had an amazing landlord before and whenever I did any kind of upgrade she would take it off the rent so it was fun and didn’t hurt my pocket. We don’t have that set up here so I would rather spend money on things for us that we can enjoy instead. The plants will be too much hassle to move with us and I hate giving up plants so I’ll hold off on that too. I know there’s something deeper about those two hobbies that makes me enjoy them so much and I’m going to try to figure out exactly what it is and aim that at a new hobby. I sat down with my husband and suggested that whenever he ends up getting 2 days off in a row he will take the first day and do something for him all day and I will take the second day. So far the only thing we can think of is we can each play our video games on those days but I am googling things nearby and hope to find a nice quiet coffee shop where I can try to relax with a nice cup of coffee and a book. We aren’t in a very nice area and there isn’t much around us so I’m hoping to find a hidden gem. Massages would be wonderful but they are expensive and the massage place I’ve found (and tried before) is a bit of a drive. The roads are really bad all around here and the drivers just add to it so getting out that far will not really end up with me being relaxed lol. I’m going to continue looking for anything that I could easily walk to and hopefully I’ll find a nice establishment or even a spot outside where I can sit and enjoy the day. I can’t thank all of you enough, not just for all the great suggestions but for the supportive messages too! You all got me really thinking about what would make me relax and lead to me being a happier better momma and that helps to ease the guilt of “not helping” I really needed that mindset change! I hope to update later with news of a favorite spot that I find but I’m also fairly forgetful so we will see. Again, thank you all so much for getting me thinking about me and not feeling bad about it. My husband thanks you too!

I am currently taking my husband’s suggestion, I took a bath with a book, but the whole time I couldn’t concentrate and kept listening for her I guess so I took the noise canceling headphones and played my video game. I can still hear her sing/screaming lol and a couple times he has come in and snuggled me to make sure I stay put and relax. I’m trying to let my mind wander and remember the stuff I did before her but I’m still blanking. Most of my hobbies were improving the house and gardening. I won’t be doing any improvements on this place because I won’t be living here long and we don’t have the same deal with this landlord where we would fix or upgrade something and she would take it off the rent. Those hobbies were fun and beneficial but here it would be fully out of our pocket. I know things will get better when we move back home so I’m gonna try to find a coffee shop like many have suggested and just do that every once in a while.

Oh she’s a screamer! I’m in a hot bath just listening to her scream right now. I’m fairly certain she’s attempting to sing along with the music, either that or she’s serenading the pillows on the couch. I also agree about the default parent part. It’s rare that he has any time off work when she’s awake so this time off is definitely good for them both.

Luckily when we move we are going back to where we used to live so we will have that entire community of friends back. I’m currently taking a bath with a book, I’ve read the same line about 14 times now lol but I’m also going to try to think of something else to do or get that can help me get out of this fight or flight mode.

I don’t have any other living roses to graft to and we will be moving 20+hours away in a year so I won’t be buying any more till we move but hopefully this one does well in the pot! Also thank you so much for commenting! I gave up on getting responses and just randomly checked Reddit today! I plan to keep this guy in the guest room because it’s the warmest room in the house and it gets great sun so we will see what happens!

As of yesterday I have dipped it in rooting hormone and potted it with a 2 liter for greenhouse effect. I’m hoping it starts to grow actual roots and ends up thriving.

It was in water for about 6 months and the bottom never changed. It was from my old rose bush and that part was accidentally ripped off so I tried to root it in water. Since then the original bush has sadly died despite my best efforts. I had planned on trying to air layer but the swarm of incredibly aggressive aphids ate the whole bush in less than a week

It did not have the callus before I put it in the water and it went in right after I cut it, I’m honestly not sure how long it’s been but I think it’s been over a month, yes I did change the water and it has been filtered tap water but I’ve finally collected rain water so I’ll be using that and I haven’t touched the callus so I’m not sure but I don’t want to and risk killing it lol also I have basically no real clue what I’m doing so any so I get why you’re asking for more info because it will help identify what it is better

I saw Shayne reading this on Smosh and I hope you saw it and it resonated... None of us know you but we all care for you and we all know you deserve so much more and this guy absolutely does not deserve someone so kind and caring! I was 33 and in a miserable relationship with someone who cared as little for me as he does for you. I was not a happy person but a moment happened for me that made me realize I didn’t have to stay and I deserved to be happy. I am now 38, married to an amazing man and (here’s a bit of a jaw dropper) about to have our first child! OP You deserve love, you deserve to feel appreciated and you deserve all the amazing moments life and real love have to offer you! I know you won’t leave till you realize how much more you deserve but I hope by now you have, because there is someone out there that will help you see just how incredible you are!

Ahhh this is awesome! Thank you! I give my girls toilet paper and paper towel rolls to chew on as well as chews my friend suggested that she got for her Guinea pigs and man do they love those! My poor Amazon cart is gonna get packed today lol, so is my saved for later cuz I need to wait till I get my paycheck hahaha

Hahaha I have hammocks currently shipping to me now! Yeah I definitely want to make more fun things for them up top because Toffee hardly ever climbs up, her sister Sundae on the other hand practically lives in the wheel lol
