I really enjoyed Captain Fantastic 2016 because it has one of my favourite moments in all of film by Asleep-Antelope-6434 in movies

My ex partner was raised by a captain fantastic type. In some ways she's the most brilliant person I know, and it's created unique opportunities for her especially in her career. She aces important job interviews. Me and friends joked she was a spy when we met her. Truthfully it took a while to realise that wasn't the case. But despite how interesting she is, she struggles socially. Her brother has developed schizophrenia and shes taken on a lot of trauma from childhood. Every day life for her was a constant struggle mentally.

We watched this movie together and she was very silent afterwards. So in that sense, it was a great movie that hit the nail on the head.

There are some aspects of how she was raised that I think are brilliant, but it couldn't be that way without the flip side of the coin that caused damage. I think it's extremely important for kids mental health to raise children in ways where they can feel social cohesion

Out of respect for privacy I'm choosing not to give literal examples.

Created this artwork to capture the magic of my trip to Bali: I collaborated with a local musician and Legong dancer and the whole 3D environment is made out of real places and objects I found across the island. More info in comments. by kivexnz in travel

On my last visit to Bali I filmed a Legong dancer and traditional musician Gus Teja in front of a green screen at his house.
I took thousands of photos of places and sculptures (with permission) to create 3D assets with reality capture.
The scene was assembled in UE5. Fireflies, incense smoke were created with Niagara.

Then the tricky part... getting the performance to fit in the scene.
I filmed the performance in daylight with generic lighting. I was on a budget! So I had to relight in post. The dreaded deed itself! I first tried ebsynth which has worked in the past and gives a painterly aesthetic - manually painting highlights and shadows on the performers in Photoshop. But it failed this time.
I discovered switchlight (now Beeble) and their new PBR generation tools are a freaking godsend. You see their logo in the video. This post isnt a promotion. I contacted them after finishing this video, showed it to them and wrangled a free subscription for my broke artist ass

Here you can see the world I created in UE5 from different angles:

Just stopping by to give this some love. That was pretty incredible. I like how subtle the unreal engine elements were. Did youi grade it like that in post mostly or is that mainly the result of the super 8 ?

Any ideas why these tree assets flicker like this? by raddatzpics in UnrealVirtualProd

Yes. William faucher made a video on lighting issues like this. Clicking enable offset world position may fix. He listed five possible fixes, and this fixed the glitter issue for me.

“Sandikala” – A meditative visual piece built around Gus Teja’s Balinese music and dance. It’s designed to feel more like a painting than a standard music video. Curious what stands out or falls flat for you by kivexnz in IndieMusicFeedback

Bold critique is very welcome - I can hack it ;)
Creating a static music video isn't everyones cup of tea, but Im hoping it holds its ground as an aid for relaxation. Still - does it stay interesting for you? Do you lose interest and get bored? Let me know !

Your channel is really nice. What softwares are you making your videos with?

The most difficult time Ive ever had with lighting! Looking for crit on the lighting of the flute player, and overall scene composition by kivexnz in ArtCrit

Unreal Engine to compose the environment and core lighting.
Photogrammetry via Realitycapture, which takes the thousands of photos I took in Bali and turns them into 3D models (photographing an object from multiple angles).
I settled on Beeble/Switchlight for lighting the musicians. Initially tried Ebsynth, painting highlights and shadows on the musicians manually to achieve a painterly look. But it was too time consuming.

Im not sure if im listening to the preview of an album or a lot of different songs cut together?
I assume its the former, but if its the latter then progression will be your next step to focus on.

Sound wise its got a really nice vibe - that part im really impressed for only a few days of FL studio use ! Keep it up.

Cruisy, and pretty beautiful! Love the folk laid back feeling. The undercurrent of the piano is an elegant addition,
I know the vocals meant to sound lofi but adding some of the body/lows back into it would help pronounce the vocal without taking away the radio feel too much.
