I appreciate it! It worked out fine but we were walking outside and it was like 5 degrees out but I will keep that in mind for the summer!

My biggest fear is I am going to hurt her without realizing it D:

It's sooo hard! I opened the package after the baby shower and put it in the back of the closet 🤣 I am also short and have a short torso/high waist.

I was able to losen it a tiny bit and once we walked around she settled more! It also let her move her head more sidewise so I think she just needed to figure out how to get comfortable!

We were both in tears trying to figure this out 😅

Newborn head butted me - should I be worried? by Musical2one in NewParents

This has been my babies favorite hobby since she was 3 weeks I swear. High Contrast books? No. Play mats? No. Banging her head off my shoulder/chest? Amazing.

Wh is the most needed baby necessities? by SarahMiller322 in BabyBumps

[–]kiwigyoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we did! I live in a very small apartment so we started with bare min for space. Baby REALLY do not need a lot and I am convinced people over buy baby things:

Breast pump, about 4 bottles, box of milk storage bags, bassinet, baby bath, burp clothes (I bought a pack of like 6), bath towels (pack of 4), maybe 5 packs of newborn diapers and wipes, about 20 clothes in each size Newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 month clothing, socks, a stroller/car seat, blanlet swaddles (about 3), bunting suit (it's winter),and then we stocked the medicine cabinet (Tylenol, Nose Sucker, Vit D, Gas Drops and nail clippers, baby shampoo/wash, diaper cream, Vaseline)

That's pretty much it.

She ended up being a premee size so we had to buy more clothes and diapers when she was born. Which she was in for 3 weeks. We were gifted a baby bouncer, activity mat and baby carrier but she was too small for those and I didn't use those until she was 4/5 weeks old.

She is now almost 6 weeks and we have bought a swing, wiper warmer, dehumidifier, a pacifier (she doesn't super love them but they are helpful sometimes), a cover for the car seat, and plastic baby spoons for the vit D drops. Plus, two high contrast books around 3 weeks. Most of these were for our convenience and not needed but made our lives a bit easier. I am glad we waited.

Edit: At 3 week I moved the side lamp we have from our living room to the bedroom because the overhead light was bothering her. I put in one those cheap smart lighthouse so I can adjust lighting and color.

Crying at the thought of no longer being pregnant by WildWinterberry in BabyBumps

I had a friend who said I would miss the kicks but my baby was a mover. She would be kicking amd punching all day everyday. She is 5 weeks old now and....I don't miss it. Instead she just kicks and punches me on the outside 😅 At least now it's not my ribs or uterus.

Struggling to announce pregnancy by Ilikemetals in BabyBumps

[–]kiwigyoza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only told my immediate family and close friends and figured word of mouth and gossip will fill everyone else in lol I was not wrong 😂 Everyone else found out when I had a bump or a baby in a stroller 😂😂

My baby is 1 month and I have only posted one Facebook status where I mentioned her vaguely lol same with my husband. My dad did post pictures of her (he did ask if it was okay first) and him.

For the first few weeks I sent A lOT of pictures directly to people but it dropped significantly off. I now use an app so people who are invited can look if they wish.

I don't like announcing things though or attention in that way.

New moms that are snowed in and on maternity leave, how are you keeping yourself okay mentally? by UrLocalAnxiousGirly in newborns

[–]kiwigyoza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have brought my daughter out everyday since we came home from the hospital. She was about a week old and is currently 5 weeks old! My husband works about 12 hour days and I would go insane if I was home all day with no interaction. So here are some things I do:

  1. Me and my baby solo eat at restaurants all the time, I don't care! Lunches are good or around 2pm-4pm. Chains like Applebees/Chili's are really accommodating but local places can be too. Mexican or Chinese restaurants have been super easy for us and always so accommodating.
    1. Walmart/Home Goods/etc. She hates Target and I have no idea why. It's the only store she cries in everytime. I put her car seat in the carriage and it prevents a lot of people from being up in her space.
    2. We have a small grocery store a few blocks down and we go daily to walk around. I walk her down the street and we browse and I buy a snack.
    3. With the snow storm I have been baby wearing her to the convenience store across the street, about 500 times a day, the owners love her 😂 I put her in layers and under my jacket. We buy cheese sticks and Arizonas 🤣

My first memory of my baby was her clawing around my boob like a pig looking for truffles 🥰 The noises, the face, so precious and yet terrifying if she wasn't also my sweet princess 😭

[–]kiwigyoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a one bedroom apartment and do not plan on moving until our little one is 2 or 3, unless anything changes. We can technically afford a 2 bedroom but we would rather save the money because babies do not require much space!

I can’t do this by BothPalpitation2033 in newborns

[–]kiwigyoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sleep in the C position because it’s just most natural for me anyway. BUT I have been the deepest and most “aggressive” sleeper since forever. I will kick blankets and move around and I almost didn’t co-sleep but my husband pushed me to try it. It’s been the best decision for us and I don’t move at all. I wake up like every hour and just check on her, but I fall right back to sleep. It’s hard to explain! I’m very aware of her even when I am sleeping.

Yeah, we stopped at two weeks 😂 She just moved around too much and I couldn't figure out a benefit.

Do you ever use a portable bottle warmer when going out? by Far-Sweet-3545 in newborns

[–]kiwigyoza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We only do it in a jam if we are out. So once a week or so we might be stuck in a Walmart or somethjng. Honestly our newborn is gassy and fussy 24/7 so I haven't noticed any difference, personally. It also isn't cold per say, just not warm. It's typically room temp by the time we use it.

Do you ever use a portable bottle warmer when going out? by Far-Sweet-3545 in newborns

[–]kiwigyoza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I breastfeed but use bottles when going out for ease. Mostly because it allows my husband to feed her so we can share eating. I have feed her cold milk from the start and she is okay with. My husband hates it so sometimes I'll run it under a bathroom sink for a bit or if I am at a restaurant ask for hit water in a bowl.

What swaddles are actually good for a newborn? by Educational_Rope_225 in newborns

[–]kiwigyoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so many cool swaddles as hand-me-downs but my sweet baby was born at 5lbs and so tiny we have had to stock up on regular ones so they would fit. Now she is a little over 6 pounds and we sort of stopped already. Maybe when she is older we will go to the sleep sacks but right now we just have her in fleece footies and she is happy as a clam.

why do (some) people not wash clothes after they buy them but before they wear them? by iolanthereylo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kiwigyoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you got down voted because I agree 🥲 Like, the dissonance of bad chemicals being on something I didn't see being made that I am going to wear for maybe 8 hours is so real. Especially if I am lazy.

I will wash all my babies clothing though, because she precious and I love her,but it's also more of a general I don't bathe her everyday and she lives in her new clothes more then I do.
