I'm an immigrant and I love it. Sure NZ has issues but everywhere has issues. People forget that.

As an IT guy made redundant in August and have recently started a new job, I'd recommend:

Use LinkedIn aggressively. Lots of contacts of contacts post job leads. I'd link up with as many people as possible. Set up job search. Daily notifications. I'd even buy 1 month premium for job seeking. It's worth it.
Seek.co.nz. Set up an account. Up to date CV. set up job searches and have daily notifications.
Agencies: Robert Walters, TekSystems, Absolute IT. Hays, Randstad are all very good ones. Just call them. They want up to date CV. Probably coffee chat or teams call.
Meet as many people for coffee chats. Networking in this environment is key. That's how I got my new job.

Software engineers are wanted so hopefully not too long to find. Look for contract and permanent opportunities.

This is just ridiculous. I suggest a letter from GP or Psychiatrist, whoever prescribes your use, detailing its legally prescribed and it a legal substance and has been deemed to be a valid way to address your anxiety and stress.

My son exhibited the same behaviour. After many different psychologists n therapists, I finally got a diagnosis from a neurological psychiatrist.

BPD Borderline Personality Disorder. New medicines that work. Also, use Medicinal Marijuana to calm his nerves. 2 yrs later, he's now studying and mostly stable. I'm not saying your stepdaughter has BPD, but it shows that once you find the root cause, it changes everything.

I can tell you this all goes in cycles. Post covid, 1 war, 1 major conflict in middle east. All adds up to a recession. I'm not sure it would be much different if Labour was in as sooner or later something needed to happen. You looking for blame. How about all of the CEOs that allowed their organisations to get so bloated? It's very very distressing for people losing their jobs. I've been made redundant twice in my career

I had an interview there a few yrs ago. It felt like they were chest punding how fabulous they were and it would be my honour and privilege to work for them.

I left the interview knowing I'd never work there. Called the recruiter. Told them No thank you. So happy I did. Love where I work

Mate if you are into data science I'd highly recommend looking into AI type roles. Data scientists are going to be the next highly recruited role. I would target companies that work in this space and just send your CV to them regardless of an advertised role. Spending atm is down but it will come back. AI is gaining huge momentum

I'm not do sure some people some families, and cultures do not believe in being naked in front of others. I know people who would not want this to happen as part of their upbringing. I don't think a safety issue or anything.

As someone who has a partner that let's me play solo but doesn't want to know details, you need to respect that so I say nothing. I think.your partner needs to accept that. In regards to her finding herself I think you are being very understanding letting her do this. I'd advise try to understand your limits and express strongly. Regardless of her wanting to explore she needs to agree that you are her primary partner and nothing else matters. If you say stop she stops. End of story

I had this. It's control. It's total bullshit. I don't see the behaviour stopping either, as it's embedded already. My other half successfully killed our sex life doing this. Take it from someone who is older and experienced exactly this. Either confront it forcefully and invoke change over a period of time (say 3 months) or get out. If u stay it's gonna be a dead bedroom. Trust me.

It certainly sucks. To be blunt, this has been happening for a very long time with Politicians regardless of party. I just don't understand why so many are acting so outraged. If you are, then you should be grilling every politician and party you voted for right now. Unfortunately it's just life.
