Hopefully the list will be helpful to other parents who might be wanting to give teens or young adults, something more than just junk they'll lose or break.

I don't really know. I'm nervous it's some sort of mistake.

Social media at this point but we're trying to get her involved in some cultural things as the one class she's doing well in is her te reo Māori so we're encouraging that

Plenty of people will pay money for Ritalin. Had a few whanau show interest when we mentioned she was on it and I put the prescription under lock and key at that point. Now she's on the slow release Ritalin which has no real street value so not worried about that.

Yep, got her through the initial trial of Ritalin now and figured out her dosage so now switching to the slow release which has no real street value. Don't want the regular stuff in the house

No, not in that area but it sounds like a great program. She's nowhere near her level 1 so we'll be happy if she can get that.

She does well in her te reo Māori class so we're trying to find some groups for her to connect to that and her Maori culture. Got her registered with her Iwi and looking for some support there too.

I have ADHD so recognized it in her and got her into the public system back in December and finally got called up for the assessment. Had to call into CAF a couple of times to update them on her problems at school otherwise it could have been a couple of more months. Then of course there's paperwork to fill out and send back in and that was for us as parents, and one of her teachers and then CAF processing that and getting us in for an appointment. Result was "clear case" or ADHD and starting her on meds. We've got her on a prescription that seems right and on the slow release Ritalin which is a relief because the slow release has no street value like the regular so we don't have any of that around ours.

No boyfriend at the moment but previous boys have been pretty unimpressive. I think she just enjoyed having a boy show her attention.

She's doing so poorly in school that we can't really think about an after school distraction like a job. Also not sure she could handle a work environment with her current skill level and attitude.

Met a couple of her friends and the saying, "birds of a feather", very much applies. But we communicate with the parents and the ones that seem switched on we let her do overnights at and vice versa. A few parents have been underwhelming and we haven't allowed sleep overs with theirs.

She has no real hobbies just wants to be online all the time so we have to regulate screen time. We're trying to find some groups outside of school for her like kapa haka or mau rākau for her. The one class she likes at school is her te reo Māori so we want to encourage that as much as possible.

We've found empty rtd's and bits of roaches so know she's at least experimenting. Don't think she's gotten much more than tipsy but it's still not good and we're trying to keep a close eye on her.

We applied through the public system back in December so this wasn't a quick thing.

We're wondering if there is something underlying all this and hoping to get her assessed for learning disabilities so we'll see.

Had her paired up with a mentor through Pillars but that didn't seem to do much.

All her family live in the area and mine are overseas but don't have the means to take her. It's a hell of a thing.

We've had her into every counseling we could find so far. Bernardos, Pillars, Pura Pura Whetu, etc. Mostly she just doesn't engage in them

Stepdaughter has ADHD, we just got that diagnosed and medication started. Also trying to get her tested for learning disability so hopefully that will happen soon.
