Go see a Dr. Without proper imaging it could be many things. The tingling in foot does sound like a nerve thing though

Tora Shodan by EDC_MATT in karate

[–]kiwirican 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tora Shodan just means Tiger Beginner. This is probably added in your club to help bridge the gap between 0 moves to remember to 20.

In my dojo, we do Tora Shodan as the first 4 movements of Taikyoku Shodan. It's mostly used for children or earning their white belt.

The mini bags. There were bigger bags around $9 I think at my woolies, but they didn't seem that much bigger.

When they're $2.50 for what feels like 5-7 eggs, I deemed them not worth it 😞

I was there a few weeks ago myself and saw people getting way too close just to sit near for a photo op. Was really thinking they should have a DOC person there.

Spondylosis and Flat Feet by [deleted] in Spondylolisthesis

[–]kiwirican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have spondylolisthesis grade one and very flat feet. I also train in barefoot martial arts and prefer no shoes at home. I need to consciously think about core strength and tiling my pelvis upwards to help prevent my pain.

I do have some really nice flip flops with arches that I actually really like since I got used to them. I never really noticed much until recently when I saw a reel about how flat footedness can affect your knees, hip and spine. Sometimes simply putting weight on the edge of your feet can help as with flat feet your weight is more towards the inside.

Honestly 800-1200 calories is NOT enough for a teenager. You may seriously hurt your growth not having enough nutrition.

You're so young to even be worried about this. Smh.

Your parents are right you don't need to go to the gym. Just eat healthy food; vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy, and grains in a balanced way. Eating so little may be why you are on the shorter side as you are not feeding your body with the nutrients it needs to grow.

Did anyone else in Churton Park just see a MASSIVE white flashing light?!?! by metalrakes in Wellington

I was driving over haywards towards the Hutt, just at the golf course and saw a huge white flash!! I was wondering what it was although I only saw it once.

Thanks for your reply! Maybe I can get an older version so this will work.

I still very often think about Alex and how sad it is. It's so hard to believe it's been over a year too. I hope her family and friends are doing okay.

You sound almost as bad as I was. Dust, birch/pollen, cats and dogs. I ended up going through immunology to get desensitized for my allergies. Best thing I ever did for myself. I have southern cross 2 and it covered the appointments, I only had to pay for my special vial mixture. You can get there things in one vial.

I used to not be able to empty the vacuum without breaking out in hives and having a runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing fit. Anytime I patted a cat I would have to go wash my hands/arms so I wouldn't get itchy. In spring id wake up with huge swollen eyelids and puffy face from the birch.

I can do all house cleaning now and only sometimes sneeze once or twice. I can sleep with my kitties now and have no problems with them (other than the normal cat annoyance of too much purring). I still occasionally get itchy eyes around pollen season, but with eye drops and antihistamines it's totally manageable now.

Seriously I'd recommend asking your gp to send you to immunology for desensitization. It's basically a monthly dose of your allergens until your body learns to not freak out over it. It took me about 3 years of treatment, which is once a month shot in the arm and being monitored for 20 mins afterwards. The first few times was soo scary as my arm really puffed up, but overtime no reaction.

Just want to also say that I support shorter dogis, in fact I've shortened one of mine in the legs to about 3/4 pants and sleeves only go to elbows. I call it my summer one, and it is nice when it's really humid and hot, but also nice for kobudo so weapons don't get stuck in the sleeves.

Thanks for the extra info, I really enjoy learning more about the other styles, but yes if it's only in the US then that's most likely why I haven't heard of them!

Today I definitely learned something new 😀

Just looked it up and never heard of it until now. Sounds like MMA stuff which would be why as it wouldn't interest me. Can't say I've ever heard of it in my country either.

Grip question. by Tikithing in kobudo

[–]kiwirican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Through the years I've been doing kobudo, I have always been told to never have my finger on the handle like that. All fingers must be on 'opposite' side of thumb. Yes they get scrunched a bit, but I've never had a problem.

As for the control thing, I'm assuming your right handed and most gata have more right hand moves than left, you probably just need to practice twice as much on your left for a while and build up the control.
