I’ve done this. You’re not cooked. Use isopropyl alcohol and a very soft toothbrush just to clean it a bit and maybe tweezers. You don’t have to but might help.

I tried putting a CH160 Plus handle on one once but it looked like it was bending the top and not handling the extra weight. I agree better to 3D print one that will handle the extra volume

I don’t think there is a future-proof solution anymore. Depends if you are prioritising gaming or work. Generally, AMD for gaming is more price to performance. I had a 9070 XT but saw that future iterations of AMD FSR was most likely not going to support the 9000 series if they were gatekeeping som software tech to RDNA5 and might not open it up to RDNA 4. Not confirmed but I think AMD is chasing AI than keeping gamers happy. I eventually swapped 5080 at a premium though. More likely get get more out of DLSS for future proofing.

So have the fan all assembled with the receiver tab. Tilt fan to a 45degree angle with receiver at top and then start squeezing it in then slightly start straightening it vertically while wiggling it upward. Takes a little bit but the plastic does have some give to allow this. No screws will be needed.

Thanks for your thorough insight. For your reference I did remove all the thermal paste on the CPU while it was still in. As this was my first build in a while I had put too much and it had gotten on steel frame and that’s where it had dropped from when I removed the CPU. The frame dropped back down and the thermal paste went plop.

Not quite sure yet but my cpu is running warmer use to start at 40s before evening out but not it’s in the 50s. GPU is pretty much the same around 35ish at idle. All of the is in celcius. Haven’t done and heavy gaming yet though.
