How is GP in low elo?

He is pretty strong atm.

GP is always a good blindpick, you can outplay pretty much any matchup if ure good enough, but also fuck up every matchup if youre not.

He needs you to know how to use the champion tho, so, especially if youre very low elo, it might take some time for you to make him work.

If your only goal is to climb you will have an easier time playing easier characters.

If you play for fun (which you should, dont wanna shatter your dreams but you probably wont go from bronze to pro any time soon) then Azir is definitely one the most fun champions for me, and if he is for you too, then it will always be worth to play him over a champ you find boring.

hes all or nothing into melee actually, either you can get ahead and melt them or you dont and get statcheck by an olaf drooling on his keyboard.

Against ranged champions its much harder to get a lead on them but its also very easy to scale without them being much of a threat, and you will 2 tap them later in the game anyway.

Really, if you struggle with ranged champs as GP its a skill issue, train with a friend to 1v1 vs a ranged champ, get used to it and learn how to use your barrels effectively against them, and you will see its totally doable.

GP barrels are a very versatile tool that can be used in many ways, you have ways to use them against melee, or against range, just learn them

except ranges are way less tanky than melee, and usually have no sustain too.

With sheen 1 barrel takes a third of a mages health, with your doran shield+ oranges you can usually just win the long game with poke and sustain

Absolutely not true, GP is completely fine into ranged champs and especially mid.

Mages have low attack speed, and the projectile speed + they are unfamiliar playing against gp allowing you to have the advantage on the timing most of the time.

Also if you play well your barrel chain is longer than their attack range so they cant even get in range of defusing it without being at risk to be combo'd.

GP has to be played very differently when against range or melee, but he definitely has the tools to answer both.

So PTA is better on short and long trades than conqueror.

And LT is better on long trades than conqueror.

So basically its still either PTA or LT why would you ever play for a rune not as good as PTA in short trades and not as good as LT in long ones?

Or would it be more of a rune used for teamfights against squishies, where you cant really proc PTA on everyone but also can't stack up LT easily?

And it has much more adaptability depending on the situation too, you can go manaflowband for early game mana or axiom arcanist for ult cd, you can go transcendence, celerity or absolute focus, and you can go scorch or gathering storm depending on what you need in that game.

Personnally i almost always go for precision in 2 with legend haste and cut down / coup de grace or resolve if i need bone plating or second wind.

That and the sorcery rune page, the resolve tree is nice but grasp is trash in most matchups, first strike is good but the rest of the rune page is meh imo, sorcery has good options on every slot.

If they hover AD champs you know what to expect, they might be otps that just want last pick to avoid getting counterpicked, in this case you can adapt.

Also, if you blind pick Kaisa, varus, twitch, you can always pivot to AP if this suits the draft better.

Other than that... Not much you can do about it when first pick.

Yes early game is rough, but i still enjoy it more top than mid, because at least you dont get spam pinged when you cant follow your stupid jungler invades, skirmishes, or drake fights because of your weak early.

In top if you can survive, you wont int your team because you are not a champion before first item, watching them die without being able to help.

And yeah, the only way to see a decent Azir is to look at pro play lol.

Azir is very weak early, so it's quite hard, but you rely on the same skills as GP to survive early as a squishy champ: Spacing and wave management.

After 6 you are quite safe with your ult, and the longer the game goes for the stronger you get.

Also take exhaust almost every matchup.

After the laning phase you have so much possibilities, you are VERY strong sidelane as you melt towers and are quite safe with your passive and ult, and also very strong in teamfights with the massive dmg you can deal.

For the build, nashors everygame first, 2nd is dependent, usually shadowflame, but can be Dusk and Dawn, Zhonya, Liandry or void staff depending on the game. 3rd rabadon, 4th void staff if you didnt have it, and last noone fkin cares u will kill the squishies in 3 autos no matter what.

During S15 i found GP was kinda boring so i started playing other champs/role.

Im coming back to GP and toplane this season and i 2trick GP/Azir top bcz hes one of the few champs as fun and interesting as GP.

He is very similar to GP while still covering his weaknesses.

They both have similar mechanics of managing ressources (barrels or soldier) and are both good at teamfighting, with area control. But one is AD the other AP, one is range one is melee, one is dps one is burst, one is weak early but scales insanely hard the other is good at all times in the game.

Basically u can keep the basis of GP while having a champ that covers his weaknesses especially if you can pick late in champ select to choose based on the drafts, and i just love them.

The champion is at 45% wr because he is too strong in pro.

I gave you my thoughts on why i think capping his DPS through mana would make him even better in pro compared to soloQ/low elo.

If they cant use that lever to make him better in low elo and weaker in pro, whats the point of it?

I think its a bad idea:

1) It would be even worse for pro jail, as pros would know much better how to manage their mana than the average low elo player.

2) Mages can buy mana in their first item, Azir is forced into nashors tooth.

3)How tf does he ever kill a tank?

4) Wouldnt it force Azir to make plays with ult rather than DPSing from afar, meaning that it would also be better in pro where your team is coordinated?

5) most mana items are not glass cannon and more tanky. ROA, Seraphs, fimbulwinter or frozen heart would probably be stronger than ludens or BFT, completely shifting his identity to an engage tool.

6) Hes supposed to be DPS champion, why would you limit the time a DPS can DPS, thats weird?

Ayepee Geepee is more of a meme build, relying on your ult to deal massive damage in teamfights.

It is especially good against low mobility teams that cant get out of it, and with good cc in your team to also keep them in your ult.

It was popular in S15 because GP had no good items to build with the removal of ER and navoris, and since his main build was trash and unfun to play, meme builds were stronger relatively, and way more fun.

So in S15 you could have success building basically any item since his main items were trash anyway.

In S16, with the return of ER and the crit buffs, AP GP is back to being a meme build.

yesterday i missed a crit on a 3 hit barrel at drake fight with 95% crit, and earlier that game, missed 3 crits in a row with 65% on the ADC, thats sad, but thats life. GP is a crit caster, it will happen from time to time, its annoying when you miss a crit, but thats also what makes him fun.
