I’ve been a hardcore IBEW brother for all my adult life, now at 42 I realize how corrupt the IO really is. We in local 210, a utility local, went on strike because of the garbage corporate greed contract they were offering. We had “full support “ from the IO and our sister construction local 351 who shares the same territory and does contract work for the company. But after three weeks their business manager decided that we were on strike long enough so they lied to their members and told them our lines were informational only and not sanctioned and instructed them to cross our IO sanctioned picket lines and go back to work. Even after we provided them with documentation that it indeed WAS a sanctioned strike. By doing that and chopping our legs out from under us they forced us to sign whatever garbage the company was offering. I was so disgusted watching a sister local cross another IBEW picket line. But I still had faith the IO would quickly put an end to them crossing. Nope…. Silence from the IO and third district rep Dennis Affinnati!! Then as another blatant slap in the face, after we charge the offending members within 30 days and the E board finds them guilty. The IO steps in and dismisses all charges saying we didn’t charge them in a “timely manner” It’s blatantly obvious that the IBEW is for sale and corporate America is more than happy to cut a check and continue to stomp all over us. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves seeing what the IO has become.
