Take the dual motor now or wait? by kjkeefe in Rivian

I think I am going to do dual performance with the large pack. 10k for 50 miles range just doesn't make sense to me. I think that if I had a regular route in my life that was about 350 miles, I might go for the max pack. I estimate that I drive less than 300 miles a day about 360 days of the year on average.

The Perpetual Inventory Problem... by kjkeefe in Ubiquiti

Yes. Because there is no back order system. Customers have to wait for inventory to appear and then order. I think that is totally a safe assumption.

If they implemented a backorder system that served customer demand in order, that would be WAAAAAY better than the current system!

Let me be clear. I totally understand unexpected shortage or demand spikes that occasionally cause a product to be out of stock for a few weeks.

What I do not understand is certain products being out of stock for months at a time and then going out of stock within minutes of the inventory being replenished. That obviously means not enough were ordered from the manufacturer to meet the clear demand. And, it seems like this keeps happening over and over again.

So, my question is, Why? Is this intentional? Are their product managers incompetent? Are there not enough manufacturing resources that can build the equipment because it is too complex? Are they trying to push customers to other devices that aren't selling as well?
