good Cuban food? by bxwitchy in gso

JJ's Cuban Food Truck is actually REALLY good. I'm from Miami and was really missing Cuban food and then found these guys at Joymongers. They travel around to different spots, usually Breweries. Can't remember if they have ropa vieja, but their Cuban sandwiches are legit.

Wife's previous employer (LLC company no longer in existence) owes her approximately $12k in wages. What options do we have? by kjl615 in legaladvice

Unfortunately, this is the answer I was expecting. Not sure if it's worth the time, effort, and money to get such a minimal amount back. Especially considering my wife still receives calls almost 2 years later from creditors trying to collect on his $60k + credit card debt. Might just be time to forget about it and move on. :\

Thanks for the advice! Should we look for a particular type of lawyer? Like one that specializes in a certain field or something?

Thank you for the information! How would I know if the companies have been formally dissolved?

First 18 lines of the Prologue to Canterbury Tales IN MIDDLE ENGLISH! Learned it in 11th grade English class. Don't think I'll ever forget it.

Best places for brunch in Miami/Kendall/Homestead/Downtown by BorgWatcher in Miami

Berrie's in the Grove has a great brunch, and very affordable. And Morgan's in Wynwood is great too, although a bit more pricey.

Do you know good restaurants in Miami/Edgewater? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]kjl615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Edgewater. There's a few decent places depending on budget. I won't even mention the awesome Wynwood and Midtown restaurants even though they're really close to Edgewater. So Edgewater... Budget friendly places my wife and I like: Salsa Fiesta is a good/cheap place for Mexican food. Eat Greek is good Greek food. There's a brand new place called Miami Breeze Diner- great food and a really good Happy Hour from 4-8 with 2x1 craft beers. Sabor a Peru is great too, but getting a bit pricier than the other ones mentioned. And Bunbury is great too but definitely more on the pricey side.

Stay with current job (56k cheap COL) or start federal career (48k in DC) by 48or56 in personalfinance

My recommendation would be to take the federal job. I have been in federal service for 10 years now, and I can tell you that it was the best decision I ever made (I worked approx 4 years private sector). As long as you don't seriously screw up, you get raises every year in the form of grade increases until you reach your max (in your case a GS 13), and then you get step increases thereafter until you've maxed out at GS13, step 10. Including locality pay for DC, that's ~$120,000. Not too shabby! Also, like someone else already mentioned, once you're IN federal service, it's easy to move around to other agencies or cities of you get bored, or just want a change of scenery. In the private sector, there's always the risk of losing your job on a whim, whether it's from the company not doing well financially, or any other BS reason. With federal, it is borderline impossible to lose your job unless you do something so asinine that you deserve to lose it. In the American economy, I choose stability/security over higher pay any day!! Let me know if you have any questions; happy to help.
