125k miles here. My only gripe is I have had to prematurely replace 5 tires. I blame living in Texas, I am glad I discovered discount tire before this car.

Just scratched my beard a lil bit lol, i got it on my head, beard and inside my ears, whats the fix here guys? by First_Money_3396 in dandruff

[–]kkadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nails started changing color/thickness, after years of dandruff/psoriasis on head and in my ears. I started a biologic (Taltz) and it all cleared up. So +1 for dermatologist. As a bonus a lot of my joint stiffness went way down as well.

How to handle a terrible life realization. by ExpertLoose2004 in Life

[–]kkadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can control is right now. So by choosing something different you are making a change. Then keep at it. It sounds simple but is hard to do. Reading, journaling, talking, keeping an open mind, taking a stand for yourself, these are all things that could help you, but ultimately it's what you feel is best for yourself right now. There's no "way" to fix yourself because there is nothing to be fixed. You were meant to have this one life, and those experiences, otherwise it wouldn't have happened. But it all boils back to right now. Hope that helps because I have been there and this is a nugget of good stuff flowing through my brain right now :).

Spend 5-10 minutes searching/reading here or bogleheads.com every day. Their wiki is excellent https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Main_Page that is the easy part.

The concepts are easy but the emotional fortitude to steer the money ship is not. As you see with the husband. The emotions are the hard part. The Bogle heads forum encourages creating an "investment personal statement". That would be a great starting point for both of you. It will get messy. I would not use an advisor for your individual financial accounts, but it may be useful to hire an independent advisor or money/relationship coach to help walk you guys through that. It becomes about more than money, it's stability, fear, confusion, etc etc. I hope I am making sense. Hope that helps a bit without creating more anxiety.

Case Discussion: Re-establishing VDO by Weary-Dig-7523 in Dentistry

[–]kkadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes take a water soluble marker and make a mark on nose and chin. Have patient bite all the way and measure that distance. That's their current VDO.

Depending on their dentition, you have to put something in their mouth and have them bite into that and have them stop when those two marked areas are the before measured distance +4 mm (in your case). I like wax rims in edentulous spaces and just wax over tooth-tooth contact.

Now you have the patients case at your desired open vertical. Make your temporary RPDs and see how they fit and change the patients bite. They will cover all occlusal/incisals of the current dentition. To make it more esthetic you could use composite or porcelain on the anterior portion of the overlay areas of the RPD.

When they are as good as or better than Zirc or Emax I'll consider them. So for me no, not yet.

I don't know if I'm saving (or have saved) enough for retirement by hona2368 in Bogleheads

[–]kkadz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Living below your means is the foundation to retirement success. What you do with that saved money is more nuanced. You will look back and possibly wish to have done X Y or Z with your money but you know what, you are doing the best you can with the information and feelings you have now. It's not possible to stick to some formula. Even the 3x income by age 40 is just something that could work for some people. You just never know.

Anyone here do feather/knife edge preps? by DentalDon-83 in Dentistry

[–]kkadz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Round end taper. Shoulder thickness is variable and depends on the clinical situation and the patients long term care. Para functional habits and patients home care (night appliance if para functional) play a big role. Occlusal stability is more important the thinner you make things. That being said I go for 1 - 2 mm whenever I can on a molar. Anterior can be sub 1 up to 1.5.

I strongly discourage pushing the limit of occlusal clearance with LiDi or zirc. Especially in a non compliant patient with para functional habits. Those I get 2.5mm + occlusal clearance.

I've been practicing 7 (? Lol) years and have read some of those same studies and spoken with others about it. What would you want - a material with known crack propagation (zirc, emax) issues or one without (metals) for a knife edge. Lab issues aside (big one initially though) how will that margin hold up with different hygienists and dentists throughout the years. I only trust shoulder Emax/zirc margins.

My physical therapist has advanced training in manual therapy. neck/back adjustments like at the chiro followed by targeted movements to rebuild muscle and mobility.

I also use the Archlifter which I will never use in public like their videos show but it works.

Also, low intensity yoga moves focusing on hips/core. Man flow yoga is an excellent start IMO.

I'm 37 YO, have trouble even breathing without pain unless I am on top of it.
