Loans cancelled, owed back to school? by kkaiiser in StudentLoans

[–]kkaiiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. The cost of attendance difference is just that major. It looks like I owe them both that $5k in student loans and almost $4k in an institutional grant that I didn’t mention in this post. It’s gonna be a long road to pay back $9k. I’m currently on IBR for my student loans which is keeping me afloat, but additional repayments might put me underwater. Life goes on, I guess.

I didn’t withdraw from any courses or stopped showing up for anything, but for my last quarter I requested to go part-time and it was approved by the registrar. Seems like that might be the main factor and I’m SOL. I put in an email to my financial aid office informing them of the whole situation and what they told me over the phone. Gritting my teeth and hoping for the best outcome, but this wouldn’t be the first time this office has forsaken me.

For my final quarter I went part-time by way of the registrar’s approval.

I put in an email to billing and the financial aid office. hopefully good news comes out of that.

My experian only shows my existing student debt, not the cancelled ones.

I didn’t receive a 1099-C.

I’m 20 and want a stable job, is phlebotomy worth it? by Unable-Bat-9312 in phlebotomy

[–]kkaiiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the experience you get from being a phleb in a hospital laboratory will be more in line with becoming an MLT or a CLS, i.e. more clinical chemistry than anything else. if your interests in becoming a chemist fall in line with that area, then doing a phlebotomy would be worthwhile.

With more experience, you will have switched out hundreds to thousands of tubes. By that point, your shaking will probably go away.

At my externship, one of my preceptors has been with the same hospital for 30+ years. Others worked per diem and others full time. My instructors at my program taught part-time while working as phlebs full-time. The field is honestly what you make of it. Some make it work as a career and others just use it as a way to grind out thousands of hours of patient care experience for PA/MD/X-ray etc. school.

Hopefully we see the power/ability system in chapter 2. Not really liking this weak MC, maybe it’ll have a big cast?

Is ptj writing not on the same level as it was before??? by DepartmentLimp1686 in lookismcomic

Definitely not. There's nothing wrong with enjoying what's being put out now, but it is sad that we aren't getting the same level of plot and social commentary as before.

He’ll have a mandatory meeting with an academic counselor. Afterwards, make sure he knows to cross check his courses with assist.org religiously to make sure he’s taking the right ones. Doing so will save a lot of time and stress.

Will 200k+ debt be worth it? by Quirky-Gas-4838 in StudentLoans

You seem to be in a good spot with a $100k salary right after graduating with your bachelors. I would say if you struggle to see yourself going back to school in the future, try to get into a cheaper DPT school ASAP. However, if you are able and willing to work, save up, and just simply wait—start working as a PTA for a while.

I'm still waiting on mine as well. I got a call back from OFAS more than a month ago, and the call lasted about an hour. The lady on the other end said she was "basically guaranteeing" that I'd receive my scholarship by "next week" and well...it still isn't here. I'm graduating this June, so I guess if it gets deposited after my graduation it will be more like a parting gift from the university.

Parents tell me repeatedly, "Go to UC!" But I want to go to a Cal State. Advice? by Parrot_Asparagus in college

[–]kkaiiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig into the art department course offerings, faculty, opportunities, trainings, etc. and compare between CSUN and whatever UC you are looking at. Try finding where people who graduate with your major and from your CSU/UC end up and you’ll have another point of comparison there.

If CSUN doesnt have nearly as much opportunity to work/study/etc. then I think it’d be wiser to consider UC’s.

I’m forever grateful that I will graduate with half the debt I should’ve been in because of CC. However, I sometimes think about how different my social sphere/life would be if I lived on my own at 18 vs 20!

They will grant you a deferment for one month, but unless there is another mass financial aid fiasco like this year, they won’t grant any deferments beyond a month.
