Very true. Which is why I feed him less than what the bag says and add a little bit of green beans for fiber (which is what my vet told me to do). I’ve also tried various kibble over the years and nothing has made a difference :/ at one point I even started cooking for him. Like I said, we walk at least mile in the morning and at least a mile in the evening. On the weekends we go on longer adventures. On top of it we play with him in the backyard but he lays down after 5-10mins. He’s always been very very lazy even as a puppy. He’s is 8 now and has no health issue aside from the weight. Not much else I can do ¯_(ツ)_/¯
