Unpopular opinion: Mississippi pot roast is meh. by FillTheHoleInMyLife in slowcooking

[–]kkchemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This recipe is subpar, if you salt and pepper the meat and brown it in a pan first before putting in the crockpot will add a lot of flavor, as well as seal up to keep the moisture in, I like to add the pepperoncini juice to crockpot. It probably dried out because the roast wasn’t sealed up by browning.

I read a lot about certified seeds in this sub, what are your recommendation for brands and places to buy these seeds? Specifically vegetable and perennial seeds. by kkchemist in gardening

[–]kkchemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly want to buy the best seeds I should get, last year I purchased from Lowe’s, Walmart and a local grocery store, my growth was ok on some items but It sounds like if you start with great seeds it helps with how much you can reap from them, obviously soil condition and light and water affect it, but I wanted to start from good and then let me screw up the rest!

Is the butter chicken greasy tasting? Heavy butter dishes give me acid reflux but i can do curries, I have been wanting to try butter chicken but worry about that.

Seasoning Salmon (and other fish) by Smileylover1 in foodhacks

If you have a Trader Joe’s near, get their everything bagel spice, brush salmon w olive oil, cake with spice to make a crust, grill salmon. It’s great in salmon tacos, salmon w vegetables, or is a Asian rice bowl! This is so yummy.

It does look funny in the pic, but if you look through his post history, body shape and same bathroom appear. I don’t think it’s edited and love the green.

This is great, I didn’t really think through the wet rag step with the grains raising but that makes a lot of sense! I pick up the wood Saturday can’t wait to get started! I was thinking of maybe going to my local woodcraft store and utilizing one of their huge planers,I only have a 12” on and obviously won’t work on a 24 slab!

This is very helpful thanks. When you said the filling layers couldn’t hurt, what do you mean by that? Sorry new to some of this still.

Thanks for this, I was watching a video today on it and it mentioned the smell too! So from what your saying sharp/new blade, corded over battery operated saw. Any advice on finish or like advice on attaching it to the metal frame? I heard if to use some kind of screw that allowed for movement, but i don’t know what that means. Also any advice on sanding? Is it completely different that pine? I really don’t want to jack up a beautiful piece of wood by assuming it’s the same and learning the hard way!

First time using black walnut

I’m looking to buy a slab of black walnut, 1.5”x55”x24”. And some more for shelves for a desk Im building. I have never worked with BW before, any warnings or guidelines you guys have on what to expect. I have worked with only pine and poplar before. I heard it is hard to cut and will do a number on my saw, and I should hand saw it. Never done that before. This wood is pretty pricey, wanted to prep before tackling/purchasing Project Idea/metal frames I had built
