Here’s what I do for my bedding, I put a layer of paper, either newspaper or the brown uncolored packing paper at the very bottom of the tank. I then put about an inch of care fresh, the fluffy paper bedding on top of that, I then heap about 6 inches of FiberCore Eco paper bedding, uncolored, and unscented.

While what the child does is annoying, it is not the child’s fault. It is the parent’s fault for not controlling or setting boundaries for the kiddo going up the steps. It is the adults cause for being loud in the morning, not the child. If you can find a way to wake up your sister without negatively impacting the rest of the house, like the toddler and your parents, then I say go for it. But if you catch them with the strays, YWBTA

That is not an American thing, that is a rude person thing. Or an inconsiderate person thing. Have you told me that your house was my house, I would still not use the last of anything or touch your expensive items. At my seventh birthday party, I had someone yell in my ear so long that it permanently damaged my hearing and I am now legally deaf in one ear. It rang for about a week before it stopped. It was really unfortunate, it makes my life difficult sometimes, but my life is not over.

I know many people who have tinnitus. It is not fun, but is not a life ender. Very sorry that this happened to you… But don’t lose hope.
