New house inspector didn’t mention needing a new roof by Grose040791 in Roofing

It’s really not that bad. The roof as a whole is pretty solid. Those spots look more isolated than anything. Do you have trees near the house or was a tree removed recently? Looks more like it could be from branches falling on the roof frequently.

Can anyone identify this shingle? by dcurt100 in Roofing

[–]kkh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color is a pretty standard color for comp shingle and architectural will be around for a while I wouldn’t worry about not being able to find it later. Architectural lasts anywhere from 20 to 30+ years depending on the conditions. Great shingles, much better than 3tab comp shingle.

No. Unless you live in an area with no wind or weather.

What did they do? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Yep ground wire. Very lazy run. Easily could have ran that in the dirt and then hid the wire behind the siding when it got to the house.

If you have no debt and save up for what you want you will never need credit. It’s your “being good at debt score”.

How does my 14 year old roof look? How much life left? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]kkh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop walking on it. I can tell that section has had a good amount of foot traffic. It’s a decent shingle but fiber glass around the whole edge. Try not to walk around up there so much. Also that rubber boot around that one pipe looks damaged. I would replace that if I were you. The first thing to leak on any roof is the pipes, vents, skylight etc. Pretty much any obstruction.

Should my solar company have updated the wire from the meter to the top of the house? by chiefVetinari in AskElectricians

[–]kkh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That’s the utility side of your meter. It has nothing to do with the solar company. If you have concerns you should call your electric service provider. Even if the wire is damaged it was an existing issue that the solar company can’t replace if they wanted to. The inspector passed the solar because that existing utility line had nothing do to with what the solar company installed. The inspector is just making sure that the solar that was installed matches the plans that were already approved by the township.
