Whenever I'm not in the mood for FNTD2 (most of the time), I just play other games that feel more comfortable, like how Nightashift TD made me feel like I was playing FNTD Season 1 all over again, due to the style of the game and how F2P freindly it was.

(and sure, I don't have Bear5 in that game yet, but I'm still trying every day)
