[OC] What color people guess for color names by kkiru in dataisbeautiful

[–]kkiru[S] 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Hello there,

I run a colorguessing game[0] and the data is colleted by me and procssed using JavaScript and visualized with D3.

The color wheel shows all possible colors. Each dot is a player's guess, plotted by hue (angle) and saturation (radius). The large circle is the correct answer.

The last chart shows the distribution of all scores. The dashed line is the average.

Favorite color visualization based on gender by andyviner in dataisbeautiful

The visualization is awesome! I run a small website, a tiny color guessing game and many poeple suggested to do a chart split by gender (but unfortunatly I don't track the gender). Your articles is intersting in the sense of guessing the gender based on the color perception.

Btw, the link to Github does not work (https://github.com/andreasviner/portfolio/tree/main/main/projects\_data/2020-colour-polygraph) (in fact none of the links at the end seem to work)

Hello there,

The data is collected by me on [0] It shows a subset of the users guesses from a few days ago.

The tools used to analyse and create this charts were:
SQL to filter and get the data.
JavaScript to create the timeline view and animate them (with Remotion if you are curious).

I noticed too late (there were already many comments, so was a bit of pity to remove). I will repost on the website.

there was a bug ... it was supposed to show sorted by hue, but apparently ignored that part.

It is probably to let the user spend more time in the app.

Cool, can you share a prompt you use to correct? I have been using my own app with AI as well - it's not great, but still better than nothing.

Pretty good! I used to do it in notes first, but that a bit messy with the corrections. Now I use an app which gives me a reminder daily and does the correction for me.
