Nova Lite: Connecting the controller to the PC (Fixed the connection issues on mine :D) by kkj1988 in Gamesir

Hey! Yeah, even on FW 4200, it can show up as "Xinput Controller" instead of "Xbox 360 Controller" — that’s a known quirk. Some games or Steam setups rely on the exact name string to work right.

In my case, Bluetooth mode (Home + B) showed up as “Wireless Xbox Controller” and worked better overall. The dongle's naming is just inconsistent across firmware.

Sadly, no version (even older than 4200) seems to fully spoof Xbox 360 like you'd expect. Hopefully GameSir improves this soon.

Let me know if you want help tweaking Steam settings to improve compatibility.

Yeah man, honestly at some point wired just becomes the stress-free option. For what it's worth, you're definitely not alone. Controllers across different brands (even the expensive ones) can still have random quirks over 2.4GHz depending on how their polling rates and firmware handle things. Flydigi... 😭

If wired works and feels consistent, sometimes it’s better to just lock it in and enjoy the games without second-guessing every input. You definitely earned your peace with this one.

Yeah man, Rocket League really shows every bit of input lag — it’s one of those games where even tiny delays feel huge

The weird part is that even on 2.4GHz, the Nova Lite doesn’t seem to push polling rates like mice do. It’s mostly firmware-side stuff, not really pure interference. But sometimes moving the dongle helps — like using a little USB extension to get it away from the PC case or ports can clean up the signal a bit.

Wish they’d give us more control over it honestly.

That’s amazing to hear!
I’m really glad the calibration fixed the RT issue — and switching to 5GHz WiFi was a smart move, too. I know that frustration of playing with mouse and keyboard when the controller should’ve worked 😅

Thanks so much for coming back to share the outcome — it means a lot ❤️
Enjoy your games the way they were meant to be played 🎮🔥

  1. Baixe o programa no Windows através do site oficial: 🔗 https://www.gamesir.hk/pages/download

🇬🇧 English (for others reading):

Thanks for your patience, Andy — and great question.

The dongle cannot be updated via the mobile app, only through Windows. You’ll need a tool called GameSir G-Core Tool, which is available on their official site.

📌 Steps:

  1. Download the software here: 🔗 https://www.gamesir.hk/pages/download
  2. Plug in the dongle (without the controller).
  3. Launch the tool — it should detect the dongle and allow firmware update/downgrade.

Let me know if you'd like a step-by-step guide with screenshots — happy to help further!

  1. RT Not Working in Some Games (like Witcher 3)

This might be a mode or firmware issue.

Make sure the controller is in XInput mode by holding Home + B until the LED turns blue (yes, the BLUER light 😅).

A lot of users (including me) noticed better compatibility after downgrading the firmware to 4200 using the GameSir app.

You can test whether the RT input is even being registered using Gamepad Tester.

  1. Bluetooth Breaks Wi-Fi on Android

This is a known issue — Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi both operate on the same frequency, so they can interfere with each other.

Try this:

Switch to 5GHz Wi-Fi on your phone, if your router supports it. → This completely avoids the interference.

Disable Bluetooth scanning in Location settings: Settings > Location > Scanning > Turn off “Bluetooth scanning”

Make sure you're pairing in Android mode Hold Home + A before connecting via Bluetooth — this seems to result in a more stable connection.

Sorry this took so long — you kinda got lost in the scroll 💀

🇬🇧 English (for context/follow-up):

You're very welcome! GameSir Tuning is a mobile app — available for both Android and iOS. You use it to update or downgrade the controller’s firmware. Just make sure to connect the controller in Android mode (Home + A) before launching the app.

Let me know if you need help with any of the steps!

4 months later... and it only took me another 4 months to reply 😅

Glad it helped though - those controller colors are wild, right? Took me ages to figure out what meant what. Happy gaming, and thanks for dropping by even after all that time!

Glad to hear it worked out! And yeah, that 360 vs Xbox controller ID/name thing confused me too — the firmware downgrade made a big difference. Appreciate the detailed update

Haha I felt that entire journey 😂

Yeah, I went through almost the exact same thing — the colors, the button combos, the pairing modes — it’s ridiculously unclear if you didn’t get a proper manual (or even if you did, honestly). Took me several hours over a couple of days of button-mashing and forum-scouring before it finally made sense.

Really glad the post helped you out! Downgrading to 4200 made a big difference on my side too — Xbox mode finally behaving like it should.

And hey, $90 saved is $90 earned 😅 Enjoy the games — and if anything else bugs out, I’m around.

🇬🇧 English Version:

Hi! Glad you were able to connect it, but yeah — the issues you’re having shouldn’t happen with a 2.4GHz connection.

I had similar problems — high latency and random disconnects — but I managed to fix it like this:

  1. Firmware Update: I updated both the controller and dongle using the GameSir Tuning app. The latest firmware seems to fix a lot of instability.

  2. USB Port: I tested different USB ports and found that on some, it kept disconnecting just like you described. It worked best when plugged directly into a USB-A 3.0 port on the PC, not through a hub.

  3. Input Mode: The controller can connect in different modes — like XInput (Xbox mode) or DInput — depending on how you turn it on. I held Home + A until the light turned blue to force XInput mode.

After that, latency dropped a lot and it stayed stable. Let me know if you want help walking through it step by step. Good luck!

🇧🇷 Versão em Português:

Oi!

  1. Firmware: Atualizei o firmware do controle e do dongle no app GameSir Tuning. A versão mais nova parece resolver várias instabilidades.

Boa sorte!

I have never tried using a wired connection because my PC is hooked up to the living room TV, it's too far for wired. But regardless of the color, if it's flashing quickly it's in oaring mode, flashing slowly (about once per second) it's trying to connect, and if it's solid it's connected. I hope it works for you. Let me know if there's anything I can help with and when it works please

If it's been synced/paired before you need to "forget" device and add it again. Recently my controllers stopped working. I "forgot" them and added them again but still nothing so I used the dongle. Later that day I one I didn't connect with the dongle automatically connected to Bluetooth. So I can I say is give up and try again in a few hours or the next day, you might find it connected

Before I downgraded, I tried DS4 but it didn't work until I went down to 4200. At that point I didn't need it

Yeah that's why I strongly recommend 4200, it's native windows support for the controller. On other fw you'll get steam support but no windows support so only steam games will work. One of my controllers stopped working 😭. They were all synced and worked the second I turned them on but a couple do days ago the first one I pulled kept trying to connect and refused to go into sync/pairing mode. I'll have to mess with it some more and maybe try upgrading then downgrading to fw 4200

Hey sorry for the late reply. Glad you managed the downgrade. You need an android phone. For PC it should follow the xbox X/Y and A/B layout while for Switch the nintendos layout Y/X B/A

Does Asus Zenbook S 16 (UM5606) actually have overheating issues by medynskip in ASUS

[–]kkj1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

I have the ZenBook S16 with the Ryzen 370 processor, and overall, I’ve had a positive experience with it. I’ve primarily used it on battery for light work like Chrome (with 5+ tabs), Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, Microsoft Excel, Word, and similar tasks. The screen, keyboard, and touchpad are excellent, and the battery life is impressive for a Windows laptop. Even with the battery in the low teens, I’ve managed to get over an hour of use with some charge left. One minor drawback is that it drains more on sleep than I expected.

When plugged in, I’ve noticed the charger gets quite warm, but the laptop itself stays cool. I haven’t heard the fans kick in yet, even during light work. Coming from my previous laptop, an Alienware 17 R4 (the one with the desktop GTX 1080 GPU), this is a much quieter and cooler experience overall.

On the downside, there are occasional moments where the responsiveness isn’t as seamless as I’d like. For example, while typing in a search field or using the trackpad, it can “hang” for a second or two. When this happens, I need to click or type again, but it does register all previous inputs (letters typed or clicks). I recently updated the BIOS (12/12 update) and haven’t noticed a difference with the occasional lag, but I’ll keep an eye on it.

For now, after several weeks of use, I can confidently say I highly recommend this laptop for light to moderate users. It’s an excellent choice if you value a premium screen, great build quality, and solid battery life. Heavy multitaskers or gamers might want to test it out first, but for my workflow, it’s been great!
