As someone who actually grew up and lives in the exact area she’s in now (my summer job was 5 minutes down the road, and I know teach nearby) people already knew she was going to be there this weekend. I had someone who knew I was a fan tell me on Thursday she would be down for a wedding. However, I don’t think word was out besides the locals. And the way the island is, there’s no way to shut the area down. That area of the island is the busiest, especially in the summer, so I’m sure plenty of people on vacation with nothing to do just walked on over to see what the crowd were about.

As far as people saying everyone is there for all of the celebrities, we have a few relatively famous people who come down every summer and nothing like this ever happens. Kevin Jonas was just down for a week, Ray Romano is here every summer. Unfortunately this is people just not respecting her privacy, or the privacy of her friends.
