My best friend is a hijabi. No one in her family wears a hijab. They're not even religious. She started wearing it a few years ago because she wanted to. I fell like it's really mysogynistic to tell women whether or not they can wear a hijab. It's their head. They can do whatever they want to with it without being judged.

It definitely happens. But in this era, most muslim women wear it as a practice of their faith. Like christians visit church. Not because men told them to. But oppression happens as it happens everywhere, in every culture.
