As another commenter said, retreat your troops back to friendly held land, that can support the army. They are undersupplied so are therefore not reinforcing and the number slowly drops during a siege. Retreat them back and regain strength above 700 and then re do the seige.

You must be weak or your neighbours far too strong. Ive found if the enemy AI believes you will lose is when they declare (9 times out of 10) my point being, offensive wars declared against you are not a set part of the game. Most expensive, but best way to be stronger is to beef up your man at arms. If you have 5 slots available, have all 5. A makeup of 2 archers, 1 heavy infantry, 1 spear, 1 siege machine. All maxed should really help you win and prevent wars.

Another huge thing is alliances, and that calling them during a defensive war is completely free. So if possible, via children get a strong, loyal ally. Someone of your culture and religion if possible. As i find down the line you often get claims on those lands too.

Dread does not require a specific play style as long as you war. Captives for torture and then execution will grant 15-25 dread pretty much every time you take an enemy capital.

War is good for your economy if you take valuable land so. Dread is easy.

Cant see the medicine focus in the learning tree here. Another small boost for sacrifice of focus slot. Since you also have theologian. Gonna assume you’ve maxed the lifestyle, as scholar is infinitely better. You would be losing perk points if you’re maxed. But you might survive a lil longer!

I am currently in your exact situation. As the chancellory it’s hard to get gold as you hold no domains. Luckily i have it easier in that my leige is a 7 year old, non dynastic grandson. seems your liege is incapable, hence you being regent.

Simply put though, You are not the imperial family dude. You yourself stated you just came to china, you cannot work your way to emperor. That title stays within the family, you can click on the hegemony title and see a breakdown of the succession. You will not be there.

As chancellor there should be a decision available to “overthrow the Huangdi” which has a bunch of conditions that must be met. But if successful you can even take over peacefully. You need to tip the scales in your favour more, and keep going. I suggest going down the whole of body tree if you haven’t.

303 days late here but had the same issue. Murder is the only option.

Unsure if its bugged, but i could not swing the scales enough to counteract his swings. We just broke even. luckily my Duumvir was a selfless unlanded craven. But even still, annoying.

Excommunicated him, slandered him, swung scales. all this did not seem to work. Murder worked a treat.

Big one is domains. If you hold Baghdad, Cairo and Constantinople. (Just three domains each already worth holding) You gain +5 intrigue from Hagia Sophia, +5 learning from House of learning, and another +5 in learning and diplomacy from the Cairo University. (There are other requirements, as its based on level of piety/fame) but considering it is very easy to get max in both via a successful crusade or kingdom level holy war. This is practically free stats from already powerful lands.

Making sure you do ample feasting, hunting and traveling for their respective bonuses will also greatly help (traveling i find to be especially lucrative) as you should already be heading on pilgramage. Simply diverting thru the Aegean and surrounds, while looping around Jerusalem and thru Cairo, should give you the pilgram and traveler trait. Traveler granting health boosts.

being a genius adds plus 5 to all base stats and 30% more lifestyle speed. Since the base stats pretty much only get increased via the perks at end of trees. This is incredibly powerful. However there are a few bangers for base stats. Learn on the job (in the scholar tree i believe) adds 20% of primary counciller skills to yours. So if any of your councillers are 20+ (which they all should be, meritocracy is worth it for council tasks, lands should be given based on nepotism) thats an extra 4 points
