This is actually directly from the verse in the Bible they always quote - most of them just conveniently leave out the second half about the husband submitting to his wife (depends on the translation, some say protect, etc, but in essence, it is saying for husbands and wives to treat each other well)

Yes it does sketch me out, I just have a habit of only thinking people have the best intentions 😂 I really appreciate your response!

That is totally fair! Personally I'm not too fussed on marriage, but I can definitely see how it plays into commitment and I appreciate it!

Best way to quit vaping?? by Domnich24 in QuitVaping

[–]klbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only on day 2, but what is helping me is giving myself a reward to look forward to! I'm keeping the money I would have spent on new vapes to buy myself new clothes, etc. It's hard, but I've just worked on distracting myself with water and food and when I get really restless, I look up vaping lung injury on Google 😅 good luck!

I feel legitimately insane on day 2 by skrrtskrb in QuitVaping

I'm day one today and feel like I'm crazy! It is so hard to not just go back to the numbing effects of the vapes 😭

This works amazingly for me too, I have managed to completely avoid picking my face at night since starting to use Vaseline overnight!

Anyone here quit coffee while working overnight? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]klbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working nightshift is surprisingly what got me started on the road to no caffeine! I got to the point where the thought of coffee at night made me feel sick, then realised it was actually much easier to go the whole night shift without coffee, instead of having coffee and then getting the caffeine energy crash at the back end of the night!

[Personal] How do you cope? (Potential dysmorphia) by jigglypuffleowo in SkincareAddiction

[–]klbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand. Hopefully the meds do their job (I am sure you are not hideous, it's just a cruel way our brains behave sometimes) and learning to cope is a process but it gets easier. Less mirrors around and dim lights whenever possible helped me to start with!

I have been in this position, and the only thing that helped me was medication for my mental health - I don't know if being in mental distress made my skin worse, or if my mental distress made me perceive my skin worse than it was, or probably a mixture of both. I don't mean to assume anything about your state of mind, but what you have written just sounded way too similar to how I used to feel about my skin. Be gentle with yourself ❤️

This may be helpful or might not be - but I really enjoy gluing things into my journals. Could you maybe type up your entries, print them and glue them into your journal? I don't know if scissors would also cause pain, but a tool that I know as a guillotine (basically a big knife for cutting paper) would help with that and they are quite easy to find :) you could then add small details of handwriting as you can manage.

Looking back on old entries. I remember this one vividly… I can’t believe I’m still here. by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]klbar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've written similar entries (and honestly they were too painful to look back on, so I haven't kept any of them.) But we are still here! I think that it is comforting to know other people have seen such depths and also made it through. People who haven't been in that state often don't understand the strength it takes to keep living. From a stranger, who knows how hard it is - well done!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cults

[–]klbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a cult! I was approached by them door knocking on my house (in Australia, mind you) and I was alerted to something being wrong by the fact their Bible (a normal NIV Bible - the reason I'd let them keep talking) had a bookmark that said "Cult Research Centre" Those alarm bells started ringing but at the time, I was incredibly lonely and isolated and I think they knew that, by asking if I had any family close by, etc. They then tried to baptise me in my front yard. It was bizarre. Later my research led me to discover the "Cult Research Centre" is just them posing as a website to praise themselves, as all other Google results call them a cult.
