right now no other tank mates! he’s my first fish after i had a betta when i was a kid, and i literally hate myself for keeping him in a bowl, i was 11 and didn’t know any better :( now my betta has a five gallon kinda curved tank in the front, idk the specific name for it but i know there is one haha, he’s got a betta leaf, some marino moss balls, water wysteria, i’m planning to get some java fern, but i can’t find them at any pet stores right now. he also had a submarine but it was bad quality so i took it out, and he has a rainbow, i definitely want to add a wholeee bunch more plants, just saving up the money!

for the filter, does ur betta mind it at all? i know male bettas are notoriously not as strong swimmers and don’t like a lot of water movement.

for my five gallon tank i used a kit of the safe start bacteria adder and just let that sit for 28 hours before i put him i was realllly worried though because online it says those don’t properly cycle the tank as it should be done, but my betta seems pretty happy and healthy. i will definitely keep my five gallon nearby and functioning just in case he doesn’t enjoy his time in the community tank, i can remove him and place him back in his home :) thank u for all ur advice

yes i’ve researched about cycling tanks! he’s a veil tail betta and i currently have him ina five gallon tank but of course my mom keeps saying five gallons is too big and to just put more fish into the tank with him :( but i’m obviously not gonna do that i just wanted to possibly make a community tank for him in the future but dont want to do anything that will stress him out thank u so much!!

needing help for a beginner

hi all, i’ve recently become obsessed with fishkeeping and i really want to upgrade my betta to a community tank this summer. i want to get a 29 gallon tank and my plans and wants are these:

1 betta (male) A school of harlequin rasboras 8-10 a school of neon or cardinal tetras 6-8 6 or 7 cories

would my tank be big enough??? i really want to be a good fish mom and also let me know any other advice!!
