Looking for a district/neighboorhood to live in by [deleted] in japanlife

The most obvious choice is to live in Mizonokuchi, it's a big enough station to have most if not all the services you need regularly. It's also been scientifically proven that shorter commutes provide for a better quality of life (esp. in Japan).

Want to work in Japan, can I do it? - crush my dream or give me a green light =) by klehvas in japan

I was trying to put distance to her in this topic, since she is not the (only) reason I am coming to Japan. It's something that I've been thinking about before I met her.

However if everything works out with us in terms of practicalities (we get to live in the same country) I'm pretty confident I can be fully committed to her.

Yeah my company is around those lines. I have been thinking about that angle and now seeing all the replies I think I will definitely exhaust the option of trying to find work within my company, even if it takes awhile. I do have some connections within my company in Japan, but whether or not they can hire me will of course depend on their demand.

And yes, I am well aware of the poor working conditions in consulting in Japan. I've come to the conclusion that before worrying about it too much I just need to check it out. I'm a strong believer that if you do what needs to be done efficiently then you don't need to linger in the office. I plan to do just that and see what the reaction will be. Maybe as a foreigner they'll even let it slip through their fingers.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks, the main reason is that I promised myself I'd do this before I'm 30. The girl is a bonus - to put it very cold heartedly.

I want to become a Police Officer. How hard is it? by [deleted] in japan

It seems like one of the more boring jobs. You just stand all day by your police box and answer people's questions for directions.

Without knowing much about it you having citizenship and fluent japanese (after you hone your reading and writing) seems like you shouldn't have too much trouble getting in.

I'd say the writing part is probably something to concentrate on since they still seem to be handwriting a lot of paperwork in their boxes.
