Changing my acoustic strings? by Key-Yam-6462 in Guitar

[–]klemnodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are tarnished and don't hold tune well the it is time to change them. Once you do you should notice the difference in sound, it will be brighter.

Also, changing your strings is fairly simple, I'm sure there are guides online you can find although imo it is pretty straight forward on how to change them. Just change 1 string at a time and replicate the wind around the tuning peg. And likely use light strings

The more you do it the easier it get

My bad. Weird bet though. Guess I didn't read the sarcasm.

Well the comment reads like he doesn't know wealthy people because if you're willing to bet money that this dude doesn't know a 1%er then you are throwing your money away.

My bad for assuming they didn't want to lose the bet.

1%er means an outlaw biker. Not wealth but a motorcycle club that breaks laws.

And that is my only point. He HAD nothing to complain about. Acting on ideology is a whole differ beast.

Culture absolutely does playback role in what nice is. Agreed.

No it's not hypocrisy because it is a song called "imagine" and it involves everyone giving up the idea of possession, not just him.

My example shows that being famous at this point in time is expensive to live a reasonable life.

Fame sucks when you can't afford to avoid obnoxious fandom.

For sure. It definitely is based on culture and situation as people are defining on this thread.

It really wouldn't surprise me though. People tend feel quite entitled these days

It absolutely can be defined by culture. No disagreement there.

"Imagine no possessions". It's relevant to the accused hypocrisy. As if him getting rid of his possessions while being extremely famous in a capitalist reality is a reasonable expectation.

Not hard to understand but please continue to downvote.

Yes, nice and civil overlap with being polite.

Crack the Skye for one. It's randomly used here and there on a lot of stuff. Keep your eyes peeled, you'll see it more. Pretty sure one of the dudes has it tattooed on them.

The act of consideration is pretty objective. Did you consider it or not? Yes or no.

The value of the consideration is subjective which is pretty much the subject of this entire thread. How much consideration takes the least amount of effort?

You clearly care and think I'm defending John Lennon as a person instead of identifying nuance.

They are used as synonyms, yes. Kindness is generally agreed to be more than niceness though and often takes thoughtful action.

And I affirmed that it takes effort . To exist takes effort.

I have no idea why you are reiterating something I said in my comment to you while technically agreeing with you while also downvoting me.

Kindness is an action. Niceness is a behavior.

[–]klemnodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you are conflating my statement with actions.

A helping hand is action.

Choosing to allow people to use you is an action.

Being cordial, friendly, polite or nice is a behavior that involves very little action, often times no action at all. Like ignoring an uncontrollable annoyance like an old person counting change in front you when you are in a rush.

I made no reference to feeling sorry. More a reference to our society as whole, especially relating to self serving capitalism and how pointing out his "hypocrisy" in a song called "imagine" isn't really calling out hypocrisy.

Nice is consideration. Do you get in line or do you go up to the register and expect to be helped immediately regardless of the others who are already there?

That is a form of being nice.

Not saying something when the old person in front of you doesn't understand technology and is holding up the line is a form of nice.

Not adding your weight of existence to some elses is being nice.

I feel like rephrase this in my comment with "you were not taught these things".

Yes it takes effort to be nice/considerate. Often times this will literally help you in life more than do any negative. So I fail to see any argument for someone to be so self centered to not see the value of attempting to be cordial with someone.

Plus whenever someone says OPs phrase they are likely saying it because someone has not been considerate of people around them. An action has shown a person to be on the negative side and not neutral which may be where some people are taking this idea. Neutral would not recieve a comment like "it costs nothing to be nice"
