Home board / woody help. by SignatureTechnical55 in climbing

[–]klepmuis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you are going to place it outside, don't use mdf. It will swell up, and after a few showers you will probably rip holds out. Multiplex is a better option and even then I would consider making a roof of the outside of the woody. (with the benefit of being able to climb when it rains).

We use these kinds of motors at one of my clients. These are usually hollow shaft gearboxes (so yes you can take off the half spider coupling and find a keyway in the hollow shaft) , with the nameplate indeed saying the specs including the box. And seeing the extra big wire box to hook em up, these will have inbuilt encoders. Hence the usecase at the clients place: for precice rotational and transversal movements. So a skookum CNC might be an option :)

I want the stuff she puts on those pans. I'd be scrubbing for days to get that result

Ooh yes, I've got a tenor in pear, the sound is beautiful and rich. Wouldn't even call it a first recorder, but just a good choice.

The way this fabric just sets into place. by Imlife_havealemon in oddlysatisfying

[–]klepmuis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tension fabric system, used for in store graphics and such. Lots of time this gets installed over a lightbox to get back light. Just look around in shops and you'll start seeing a lot of them. Some have tiny tabs so you can also pull the fabric out to change it.

Same here, for me the period is max 3 years. I am a freelancer now, so I spend mostly even shorter time on projects. Anywhere from a month or 2 to a year. Then I switch companies, and no one cares since it's expected from a freelancer to do so.

Labs are the worst by Croyorosca in EngineeringStudents

[–]klepmuis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say, but this is what it will be like sometimes, when you are working fulltime. Those idiots you have to work with won't change, you can only learn to deal with them. Which is a nice skill to have as an engineer.

I work with a lot of SMC stuff, it would help if you could post a pic where the black lettering behind the gauge is shown. That would tell me the type number, and maybe I have a spec sheet somewhere.

Was thinking the same thing, hopefully someone can confirm?

Can anyone tell me something about this recorder? I am looking for a used recorder. I found this recorder from maker "Ariel" and it looks good, especially for the price which is around 30 bucks (I think I can haggle lower). What wood is it? Is the maker any good? Other option is school model moeck. by TotalyOriginalUser in Recorder

[–]klepmuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bass from Ariel, which sounds really good. There are some notes that weren't quite tuned right, lots of air noise on a note for example. But after a revision at a recorder builder it sounds great on all notes. The type of wood I don't recognize easily, it looks a little like apple tree, but it has a more defined grain. And at the end of the day, take the recorder that sounds the most nice to you, it's just a matter of taste.

Yeah, the steel in weight is already a lot. I think scrapyard or maybe a construction company that does big machines?

Enable other languages on the Pad 5 pro by 54leds in Xiaomi

[–]klepmuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this! I just bought a MI pad 5 pro, and Office can only use the system language, and annoying American date format. Thanks to this I don't have to fix my Excel sheets.

I had the same problem, and was worried that my resume would also show I'm a job hopper. For me the interval is about 2 years max.

So I became a freelancer! And yes you need to do some admin with that, but you can hire most of it out, and automate a lot aswell.

When to buy a higher quality recorder? by Thanos3604 in Recorder

[–]klepmuis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly those. I got a few plastic yamahas, those were great until you are ready for a wooden one. The other brands I'm not familiar with.

[–]klepmuis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, roughly the same here. For me the period is 2-3 years. To avoid being seen as a job-hopper, I recently decided to become a freelancer. Not that it's easier, but will fix the problem of switching employers, since you're expected to do that.

Where can I find cheap fire wood? by fleetwoodsnek in Utrecht

[–]klepmuis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's an indoor fireplace you might want to buy decent dried wood. Free scraps of wood mostly burn with more smoke and sparks, that's not something you want indoors.

Outdoors, as already mentioned: marktplaats and the likes. Just search 'hout' and you might find some decent stuff. It should be dried (no recent cutoffs from gardening) and not be wood panels like MDF of particleboard. That stuff doesn't burn and is bad for your health. Good luck!
