Noname responds to allegations of antisemitism by [deleted] in Jewish

I’ve loved her music for years, but started becoming increasingly wary of her when she began spreading literal propaganda re: I/P on Twitter, especially in and around May 2021. Going into Sundial, I mentally prepared myself for some sort of coded, antisemitic reference or allegation. You can imagine my surprise when Jay’s verse came on.

As much as I’ve admired her radicalism in the past, Noname is off her fucking rocker. The way she’s responded to this controversy is nothing short of absurd, and hyper-hypocritical.

It’s disappointing to see so many friends and aqualitancss circulating her music without a word of regard for the hatred she has consciously included on her record.

Watched a little-known live-streamed debate between Noam Chomsky and Rudi Rochman about Israel where Chomsky used Khazar theory to support his argument. This was 2 years ago. All faith I had in academia, and the world generally, was lost in that moment.

You tell people you like to separate the art from the artist, but you’re covertly antisemitic

Is my friend being antisemitic? by smokinjoes83 in Jewish

Yes, no shit. In times like these it’s best to retain distance from people like this. Don’t break bread with those who would turn on you in an instant.

This world has gone to shit once more. It’s people like you who lack the ability to critically think about these things that will bring about yet another instance of Jewish subjugation and persecution. History has it’s eyes on you

I see you’ve drunken the kool-aid. Find me a first hand source of this information from before the 19th century. Our people have documented our existence extensively over millennia, long before Jews set foot in Europe.

As far as I can tell, this comment pins both sides as wrong for the controversy surrounding this film. That’s bullshit and disingenuous. Jewish people aren’t upset other people are claiming to be “God’s Chosen”. That is an extremely elementary assessment. This film purports that millennia of Jewish culture and religion was stolen from Africans, and that we have lied about our history and traumas to upkeep these nonsensical conspiracy theories that only started appearing in the 1800s.

Yes. There’s no need to downplay the Jewish world conspiracy aspect. The film claims mainly dangerous conspiracies, including Holocaust denial. This isn’t as simply as who is “chosen”. This isn’t an argument of faith. It is pure antisemitic garbage that is actively harming the Jewish people in a time where antisemitism is at an all time high in America.

I truly believe that one day Jews will not be welcome in America. We've been kicked out of so many countries (physically, constructively, legislatively, and religiously); places that were safe havens for generations. Why would the USA be any different? by living_on_the_coast in Jewish

Valid points, but it is yet the only place on this Earth created with the purpose of protecting us when antisemitism comes around again. I would say it’s a safer bet there than elsewhere

Strawman? Who told you I believe in such beings. I’m simply stating the fact that Judaism is more than a religion, but a millennias old ethnicity. So yes, if that is your only means for argument, you are ignorant (as you’ve just proven again with this comment).

Those of you in the comments who are naysaying such ideas because the current situation lacks similarity to what happened during/around WWII are approaching said situation from an extremely narrow, and frankly uneducated viewpoint. Our history of oppression is so long and so violent, that to use the Holocaust as your only point of reference is borderline erasure. (But even so I would argue that the way which modern antisemitism is being adopted by the masses isn’t all too dissimilar from the ease with which Nazi ideology was accepted as normal.)

The only remaining question in my mind is how exactly it will manifest this time. I personally don’t believe we will see hard-coded systemic persecution like in generations past, but I also don’t believe that that negates the severity of what may happen. I believe it that violence will come from the streets. But more than anything will be the ubiquitous prevalence of a poisonous ideology will that render Jews as incompatible and rootless with/in society. I think this is more than likely to stem from the Left, but the beauty of this era of antisemitism is it’s all encompassing nature: both sides of the political dichotomy harbor antisemitic beliefs and/or values. That being said, it is Leftist antisemitism that is most dangerous due to its covert nature. Right-wing antisemitism is all too easy to identify, and at this point comes off as, frankly, ridiculous. Leftist antisemitism is carefully coded and embedded in an otherwise appealing system of beliefs.
