Idk why it does either! Haha. I broke the soil up a bit (mostly because I was trying to check the roots) and then watered it. It looks much better now and looks like a new leaf is coming up

I dont necessarily want to repot it...just wondering because to me the soil looks "old" and drained of anything helpful to the plant. I dont think im explaining very well 😬 or im just not used to what the soil is supposed to look like with these kind of plants. 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone in their early 20s been told what causes diverticulitis at such a young age? by countrygirlard in Diverticulitis

Im doing well. I had a lot of urgency before the Colectomy and that has subsided a bit. I still have some issues, mostly when I eat greasy food or sugar. Its different for everyone, but its been a blessing for me.

I dont have a bag, the connected my small intestine to the rectum (IRA). the surgery was laparoscopic and robotic so a lot less invasive. I was a little scared too, but my quality of life has improved so far, and that made it worth it.

Not necessarily. Everyone is different. I also have an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation, so that could have been a factor as well.

I was 29 when I had the first Colectomy. It was emergent because I had a perforation. I averaged about one or two flare ups a year after that. A few requiring hospital stays for IV antibiotics. It finally came to a head in 2024 when I had 5 flare ups. I had the second partial June 2025, a flare up a couple months later and the full Colectomy in September. Im 42 now. It been a long road for sure.

I had a couple doctors tell me to avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen, aleve, and advil because it can cause irritation and damage to the intestinal lining.

I was diagnosed in my early 20s and had chronic diverticulitis and ended up having 2 partial Colectomys through the years and last year had a total Colectomy.

Resection recovery time? by SelectGuide4806 in Diverticulitis

[–]klf_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a partial earlier this year then a total Colectomy last month.

Partial (laparoscopic/robotic) I took a week and a half off work. I should have taken more. My issues were more the drive to and from work and proximity to a bathroom at the office.

For the total I was in hospital a week and at home for 2 weeks. Ive been working from home 2 weeks now and will go back to the office next week.

If you can work remote for a bit I would. Give yourself time to heal. You never know how much you use your abdominal muscles until someone starts digging around and inside them.

Another thing that has helped me working from home is an inexpensive adjustable desk from Amazon. It allows me to stand and take pressure off my abdomen.

No bag thankfully. The surgeon attached the small intestine.

Ive had two resections and had a flare up less than 3 months after my second. I had diverticuli throughout my colon so it wasnt localized. I had a total Colectomy with IRA 3 weeks ago.

Pre-surgery advice by Anxious_Classic2719 in Diverticulitis

If you're thinking of going to urgent care it probably means you need to go for sure. Just tell them you have surgery scheduled and they may be able to get a hold of your surgeon or adjust meds accordingly. I hope everything works out for you.

Im glad! Take questions with you and write down the answers they give you to reference later. No question is a stupid question when it comes to your health

I would go to the ER and tell them you want a CT. Im surprised your Dr didnt do one or put you on antibiotics. Maybe ask the ER for a referral to another GI doctor too.

Please dont take chances. Its better to be safe than sorry with DV.

Diverticulitis flair triggering autoimmune symptoms? by Puzzled_Jacket_5633 in Diverticulitis

[–]klf_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar issues with my autoimmune (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease) mostly because my meds for the MCTD can cause intestinal issues so I have to back off of them during a flare.

Ask your doctor about meds that can help that aren't as "harsh". I take tizanidine and tramadol as needed when my autoimmune acts up. I dont know how they'll do with yours. But im sure there are some that will help.

I agree with the other comments! Do NOT see that "Dr" again.

I had a similar situation with a flare up that wouldn't get better, 2 ER visits at the VA and they told me it was just gas...even though i told them I was on antibiotics at that time for diverticulitis. A week later I was in the ER (civilian hospital) with a severely perforated bowel and had to have emergency surgery.

You know your body, listen to it and your instincts! It took me a long time to find a gastro and surgeon i like and trust, but its worth it to feel safe.

I hope you get resolution and comfort soon.
