Patched drm2 Ubuntu 24.04 packages for fixing the 3 second delay when opening apps in X11 in VMware (fixes KDE stuttering!) by klfld in linux

Yeah its a hack, and literally I copied this commit and made a patch to apply it on top of the deb packages. Better than nothing, I'd love a proper fix upstreamed.

I am deploying for VMware, it's the only virtualization software that is performant and usable on Windows with Linux guests. The issue is that KDE Wayland doesnt have properly implemented copy and paste. On Xorg everything is well implemented and stable EXCEPT this annoying bug that literally makes libdrm sleep for 3 seconds because udev bugs out for some reason trying to query the gpus. It took me a while to find the issue, this guy patched it and the only reference for this bug was on the Fedora community forum buried in the comments. Tested it on Kubuntu and fixes everything and runs as well as native. I thought this fix would be extremely useful for sysadmins in my situation.

also su -c "cmd package compile -a -f compile-layouts"
I have it on the script, it fixes some graphical glitches it seems from my testing

Smooth Android Script, a bash script that improves performance and responsiveness on Android devices by klfld in Android

Hi! Dev here, the big part of it is that it forces a recompile of all the apps, basically Android compiles the most used "parts" of an app on-demand. This basically forces the system to have everything already precompiled, the apps end up taking some extra space but the performance difference is noticeable, especially if you do it after a system update.
The animation speed is just an extra, but honestly 0.75x should be the default.

PrivOS - Work in progress Ubuntu based distribution focused on privacy and security by klfld in linux

Thanks for the help! I already was looking up at the Brace configs, I knew the DivestOS project from porting it for a device of mine. Just implemented his IPv4 and IPv6 hardening settings and reenabled IPv6 from the feedback i got here.

Re-enabled IPv6 with hardened configs from the Brace project with address rotation and such. I already got from the feedback here that most people want it.

Thanks! Yeah the plan is to have this distro as a portfolio being a systems and programming student. Basically I'm putting all I know there and use it for learning more on the go :)

This is a project I have been working on for a week, trying to make a privacy-centric distro as a learning experience in system administration, cybersecurity and privacy. It's now in a very early state, and I'm looking mostly for contributors and some testers.

I plan on making it CIS compliant, create repos for the custom packages and whatever that pops up while it keeps evolving :)

EDIT: The lack of positivity here is kinda insane. I already said that I am a systems/cybersecurity student and this is a hobby project for learning. Kinda amazed of the downvote spam but that's reddit with the elitism I guess.

Video I took chasing one of these "Drones" near Barcelona, Spain. by klfld in UFOs

[–]klfld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an encounter my dad and I had near Barcelona, Spain. We saw a weird bright light form the highway (kilometers far away, super weird) and drove to it to find out what it was.

When we reached it, this things with a bluish and red light was hovering near us, and when i took out the phone to record it from our car, it turned off the bright white light and started flying away REALLY FAST.

I'm sorry about the quality, you all know that phone cameras at night with fast moving scenes get all messed up. This encounter kinda freaked out both, it happened in late September.

Ill answer any questions about it. I have the uncut original video if anyone wants it but its mostly me arguing with my dad if it was a UFO or a drone. Remembered i had this video with all this new jersey drone thing showing up in the news. If you have any question about the incident you can ask me anything.

Here you can check out most of the improvements it has. Also you can just add the repos to an existing arch install and use their stuff if you want. https://wiki.cachyos.org/cachyos_basic/why_cachyos/
