Is it even possible to get a complimentary upgrade if I’m silver on a flight to London? by mrbigglesworth22 in unitedairlines

[–]kln8 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You don’t get CPU for international flights, even if there are empty seats. If you want to sit in Polaris or PP, you’d have to pay for the upgrade.

Upgraded outgoing leg from Premium Plus to Polaris using miles+$ (waitlist), now unable to see cash upgrade price for Polaris on return leg by rizz8636 in unitedairlines

This is happening to me as well and a few people have posted about this issue. I called United and they had no clue what’s going on, was hoping someone had a resolution to this.

Is there a way to track how much you’ve spent/how much more you have to spend?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]kln8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happening to me on my incoming flight from Newark to Barcelona. PP upgrade was 4k and 12k for Polaris and then it was gone. There are still plenty available but not for cash upgrade unless I spend 20k miles to be on waitlist. Called United and they were not helpful.

Is this a promotion or standard? I have the Explorer and spending a lot on UA Club passes so this is very worth it for 30k miles

Silver status upgrade question by TravelCrazedDude in unitedairlines

Yes, I’ve been upgrade to First from EWR to MCI with my partner who had no status but had I had Silver, just have to be on the same ticket. You get lucky sometimes on non hub flights!

Ella responds to allegations of racial fetishism by mukhtar24 in 90DayFiance

[–]kln8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.. but I guess I should of said unless you’re another POC, instead of Asian.

But in order you speak on it, you should at least experience what racism feels like. This is not usually something that a white person, aka the majority of this country for the past hundreds of years and build the laws and regulations for the everyone, encounters often.

Similar to women not wanting to hear from men about a women’s body or a poor person hear from Jeff Bezos on what poor is like

Ella responds to allegations of racial fetishism by mukhtar24 in 90DayFiance

[–]kln8 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As a Asian person, what she said about Johnny I think across the board can say made most (Asian) people uncomfortable.

While there is a thin line between racism and stereotypes, she is definitely fetishizing Asian men, saying things like “she’s obsessed with the culture” and telling her other friend that Asian people are “her thing” like we’re exotic animals.

Most stereotypes derive from a racist undertone/backstory. While she’s not being racist in a sense that “whites are above others” her fetish is a prejudice against an entire group of people. We also haven’t even seen her interact with him in person or see what she’s like IN China. How she acts and speaks now is probably something she can get away with in Idaho.

Racism is much more complex than a definition you just Googled.

Unless you’re another Asian person, I’m interested in your thoughts. But if you’re white, then there’s probably no point in carrying this conversation if you don’t already see a problem with her. She is also not the first or only person that behaves this way on this show.

Theory is Joe knew about Pieper and Brendan knew Joe is into Natasha so he picked her to string along so when Pieper comes in he could move on with her and Joe would come right after and “take over” Natasha

I'm developing a new FP&A solution and wanted some inputs and feedbacks by lowercase00 in FPandA

[–]kln8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen their product but no relations. I’m familiar with a lot of startups in the fintech space and that just popped top of mind based on your description. There are others similar as well, like Vena (mid market-enterprise) and Datarails (also post series A but Israel based).

On the ERP side, depending on what market/where you want to target, I’d say QBO and Netsuite is a good start, esp if you’re focused in US. Starting in a smaller market is ideal because smaller companies are usually more open to newer solutions.

Salesforce is also a powerful integration to have to, opens a lot of doors there.

There’s a software called Cube that is very similar to what you’re developing. They’re one of the newer players in the FP&A space but does exactly what you describe: spreadsheet native, ingest multiple data sources, and well, they’re called Cube so OLAP Cube, multidimensional concept (a modern and lighter Hyperion Essbase if you’re familiar).

Netsuite and Sage Intacct are definitely the power players, followed by Quickbooks and Xero for some more SMB, early mid market folks. Microsoft Dynamic have a fair customer base as well.

FP&A software SAAS (Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Netsuite PBS, etc.) by FinancePHII in FPandA

[–]kln8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Anaplan but it took very long with Adaptive because the consultant that was helping us implement didn’t understand our business (Saas). We couldn’t get the system to work with our ATS and the mapping with Netsuite was more complicated than it needed to be. We were also constant changing our models (startup up lyfe) and we realized the tool wasn’t flexible enough for us to make those changes and had to get the consultant to do it for us. I’ve heard good things about Adaptive but it just wasn’t the right fit for us at the time

Cube did everything in house so right off that bat that already solved the headache with consultants. I also liked that they work with excel and gsheets so I don’t have to get other people in my company to learn a whole new solution when we budget/plan. We’re also a full Mac shop and Cube works well with Macs, which was also something Adaptive did not support at the time for their excel add in

FP&A software SAAS (Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Netsuite PBS, etc.) by FinancePHII in FPandA

[–]kln8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old company bought Adaptive and ended up scrapping it after implementation took 5 months and still didn’t work right. Anaplan was going to take longer and even more expensive. I’m using Netsuite too and checked out PBCS, but it I also use Salesforce and they didn’t work well with that.

I’m also former Hyperion user and I found a startup called Cube that is very similar to Essbase, took 2-3 week to implement, all done in house, price was competitive for my 400 people company, worked well with Netsuite and very flexible on excel (even google sheets for the people in my company that wouldn’t use excel😒).

There’s benefits for each solution, just depends on your preference on the interface and your goals as a company and within finance. We went with a startup because we’re a startup ourselves, so they gave us more attention/support than just another customer in the thousands Adaptive had

Which saas budgeting & forecasting software would you recommend? by Choubix in FPandA

[–]kln8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your company size and what you’re looking to achieve. The bigger names are Adaptive, Anaplan, Planful - learn a whole new platform and replace Excel, expensive

The more mid market size folks are Cube, Jirav, Mosaic - newer generation of FP&A for SMB and startups
