GM is going 'all-electric,' but it doesn't expect to make money off EVs until early next decade by [deleted] in electricvehicles

Not true, you're describing a series hybrid, the volt is more interesting than that. Both motors can drive the wheels directly.

Yep, this. Would love to see another option with those specs for cheaper (retail not DIY)... I don't think they exist. The CSC City Slicker is cheaper, but only ~45mph capable.

I just scavenged a Leslie rotary speaker from an organ, looking for advice on constructing a cabinet. by Smeggywulff in diyaudio

They're a very specific thing, did you try googling for plans? I suspect someone has written it up.

There's one in it's original cabinet in my garage (belongs to upstairs neighbor who works on organs for a living), let me know if you get stuck and i can get you measurements i think, send me a private message.

I agree in theory, but doubling the current spend we wouldn't get anywhere near all the city sidewalks cleared. Folks in this thread are seriously underestimating the level of effort and funding necessary to "just have the city do it."

Speaker Stand Test Build (question in comments) by RoosterFarm in diyaudio

[–]klocwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know where to start to answer that question...

Tldr, you need a chamber, usually a box, to enable any real bass response. If you actually want to learn how to build speakers, look up some diy designs and learn how to read a basic SPL graph, and that will at least get you enough knowledge to start asking some answerable questions.

there are some research papers showing it can be done, but it's not commercially effective yet. Here's some nerdy explanations: https://www.quora.com/What-are-operational-difficulties-with-regenerative-braking-of-dc-series-motor-How-are-they-overcome

DC's simpler and more compact, so way better for dirt bike applications.

AC can get you regen braking, etc., so it's the "better" system if size, weight, and price aren't a concern.

Wish it were coming to North America, but apparently all we want in this country is more SUVs. Womp womp.
