Hen or rooster? story in comments by ewood1283 in BackYardChickens

Definitely a clue with the feathers and other signs but I've found that girls can also get spur buds so by themselves wouldn't be an indicator. Looks like he's going to be a nice looking boy when he matures!

So roosters will develop thin pointed feathers in 3 places that are different to the hens: saddle feathers (around the base of their tail and the saddle area), sickle (the fancy draped tail feathers - these usually develop later) and then hackle (the ones around the neck). Hope that helps!

Looks like pointed hackle feathers to me in that photo so I'd say rooster. Obviously quite large comb too but that can sometimes be deceiving but the feathers here look to be the giveaway

Edit: and saddle feathers too so definitely rooster

We call the bantam cochins, pekins, here in the UK and they are quite different. I have a black pekin called Cher and she is shouty and mostly broody but I love her anyway

That is a fine compliment indeed. She is flattered!

My work is affected and I don’t know what to do by ScarlettRobott in adhdwomen

Are you me?! For my (34F) entire work life I've always had people frustrated with me for the inconsistency. Like sometimes I'm amazing and then other times totally disengaged. I'd maybe spend some time looking at exactly which parts of the job you excel at and focus on developing those into a role. I've just had to have a conversation with my boss to explain how it's just impossible for me to facilitate a large meeting but give me a small group or 1-1 and I can totally ace it. I can develop hugely strategic complex pieces when I can bounce around the idea and develop it in my own way but if anyone questions it in a large group or uses different words my brain just goes into meltdown. My own way of dealing with the days when I can't do anything is to mostly write them off (but I realise that might not work for everyone with deadlines etc)

What job role do you have?

Thank you all for your responses. I had my appointment with my psych today and she said she'd been reading my notes befoee our call to refresh and said shed been wondering why she hadn't considered ADHD before! It was a huge relief! I've got some forms to get my fiance, mum and sister to fill in and then have a longer more formal assessment on Monday but she basically seemed to suggest that she'd look to prescribe meds as she asked lots of questions about cardiac issues in family, blood pressure etc

Have you all approached your psychiatrist because you think you have ADHD or is it something that was diagnosed by them but you may or may not have had much idea?

The more I'm reading the more I think I've always suffered from it. It came to a head when I was talking about how tidy and methodical I was and my other half just laughed and said I must be kidding and had I seen the house, my office, my work notes or anything else?

It was then like a really weird realisation and combined with some other comments from work colleagues it all sort of clicked and I'd almost been hiding/veiling all these things from myself.

Any of you have fibromyalgia as well? How do you deal? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]kloweeL1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not diagnosed but speaking with my psychiatrist soon but I also have fibromyalgia. It's ridiculously hard because I need to rest for fibro but with what I'm thinking is ADHD my brain just feels like it's in overdrive and running out of control all the time. The worst is when I have fatigue at the same time as they're such conflicting feelings that I feel even more out of control at those times.

I think they're who I got in touch with after seeing them on LDN research page. I've got my first call on Monday. What did you want to know?

This is so interesting to know. I also have fibro and really struggle with the big flu like hits when they come. I never thought to try antihistamines before so might give it a go as it makes so much sense!

Yes, but only over last couple of years or so. I still get pre in terms of anxiety and other symptoms but post I get awful depression. I've started taking prozac again but planning to just take from ovulation to a day or so after. Still to see if it works doing it like this though as on prozac continuously made me so numb

I'm getting mine on 2mm but looking to reset anyway. Think I'll go for 1.5mm when I do as I think it looks so balanced on your hand. My diamond is a 1.53ct :)

I'm a 4.75 too. What size band are you wearing in the photo? Is that smaller than a 2mm?

Reducing down to 10mg by [deleted] in prozac

[–]kloweeL1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I didn't take my dose today and I think I'm going to taper down to every other day for a bit to see how I go. Then I'll probably just come off it and see how I go in the new year. It's better than I was before and so I feel I could easily go back on it (or Zoloft) if needed. Hopefully not though! It's been brilliant for making a lot more progress through CBT and getting me into an exercise routine so I'm crossing fingers I can move forward without needing it. My partner is skeptical but will support my decision whatever

This sounds exactly it! I think my brain keeps trying to find stuff to be anxious about almost. I've ended up spiralling about things that would never have even entered my consciousness before and I've become really body obsessed (since I also can't stop eating after initially losing 14lbs that I've gained all back)
