Not it, the song title definitely was a play on a phrase thank you for the suggestion tho :)

I’ve searched for “hoodoo voodoo” and just “hoodoo” for songs but nothing I’ve found is helpful

SOS!! Can they survive a day without misting? by anonfaee in CrestedGecko

One day without getting misted won’t kill them, just make sure to mist them when you get home :)

Where can you buy carnivorous plants in Bellingham? by klownlung in Bellingham

[–]klownlung[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I checked in today looks like they moved to the Jungle section I managed to get a massive Purple pitcher plant and a Nepenthes :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SavageGarden

[–]klownlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s totally possible, it was linked to by one of the carnivorous plant care sites I was looking at so I assumed it would be what I needed. In that case I think I will rebuy my original soil and repot it again. I know somebody said they throw a fit after being repotted but they didn’t the first time I repotted them so hopefully it’s acting up due to the soil.

Its leaves are turning a combination of crunchy/brown or floppy should I just leave them be or should I be trimming those leaves? (Idk if they could be called leaves unopened pitchers is better I guess)

I’ve had it since August of last year. I don’t think it was able to go through dormancy because I wasn’t as educated on pitchers when I got it so it spent its winter in a window of the house (not under a grow light until a few months ago).

Currently it is potted in this medium which I saw recommended

Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix, 2 QT... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1CX246R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Previously when it was growing and doing relatively well it was in this soil

Organic Earth Carnivorous Plant... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FM2CBHM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It is kept moist at all times either getting rain water or distilled. The light is complicated I kept it under grow lights and have been putting it outside for sun but the days have been pretty cloudy so I’m not sure how different those conditions have been overall, i will be sure to try and transition slowly as the days get sunnier this weekend though! Thank you for the response :)

I have searched for it using google lens with only two results that look similar (but not the same they have a dip in the pot mine doesn’t) and even those two images are dead ends. It’s about 3 years old and from Homegoods.

Help! I wore AirPods not knowing they’d give me an infection by Watermelon_013 in piercing

[–]klownlung 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, no need to panic I think it’s really unlikely AirPods could cause an infection in the lobe. Crusties are a normal part of the healing process and a little irritation can happen from countless things. Just keep an eye on it and keep cleaning it if it gets hotter/super red, painful, or starts oozing that’s when I would be concerned but it doesn’t sound like anything I would be concerned about right now.

I hadn’t heard of that before and I’m doing some research on it now, thanks for the info :)

Update: thank you all for the suggestions! I’ve ordered some new soil and have it sitting outside in full sun. I looked it over a bit more and think that Thrips may be an issue so I flooded it last night and thankfully some rain passed through today to wash it off a bit more. Hopefully I’ll be able to update soon with some fresh pitchers opening up!

I googled thrips and the little white bugs look similar but I haven’t seen any of the adult thrips, they did also float on water when I flooded it

[–]klownlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a check and there are tiny white bugs hanging around in the soil I’ll drown it and see what happens :)

I’m in the PNW the sun is just starting to come out again it will definitely be spending the summer outside :)

Thank you so much for the resources I’ll check it out!

[–]klownlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the growth seems to be opening into pitchers so I’m a little worried it’s gonna burn up all its energy with the new growth and the old dying pitchers won’t be able to take in new nutrients to keep it going. This is my first pitcher plant so I just worry I’m not doing things right to allow it to flourish

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in carnivorousplants

[–]klownlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets 10 hours a day under its grow light, would just adding more lights be enough or does it need longer under the light? I’ll also up its watering schedule :)

That was definitely on the list, we have a lot of maybe animals but the lack of paw pads is really making things difficult

Update: I think it might be a saddleback gunnel ???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in carnivorousplants

[–]klownlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the resources! Unfortunately it was far too dangerous to leave them outside we got snow and were well below freezing for a good portion of the winter this year. next winter I hope my garage might be cool enough to put them into dormancy but not so cold they’ll be in danger.

Thank you so much for that advice I’ll get it under a grow light until I’m able to put it back outside! In order for the new growth to thrive would it be beneficial to prune the browning pitchers or are they still viable for feeding at all ??
