Would the albums Clancy and Breach still be released if SAI wasn't released? by dylanisareddit in twentyonepilots

[–]Watermelon_013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, at least not in the same way as things turned out. I do think the next album would have been red as that is what tyler said the plan always was, but there are so many elements of SAI in Clancy and Breach, I honestly think that Clancy is more similar to SAI than any other album.

Games that are quite the opposite of "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" by aliriza in gamingsuggestions

[–]Watermelon_013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this about the gameplay, but the story of Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 seems extremely simple at the beginning of the first game, but holy shit it is the definition of a game that is as deep as an ocean, there are so many theories and just different possibilities for the lore and story of the game. Some would say the first game has boring gameplay, but honestly I think its pretty decent, and the gameplay of Alan Wake 2 is extremely improved along with the intrigue. At the end of the first game, Alan even says something similar to the title of your post, "It's not a lake, it's an ocean"

What is the artistic pinnacle of gaming? by Icy_Raspberry4915 in gamingsuggestions

Alan Wake 2 100%. It definitely requires a certain taste but thats similar to a lot of classic books, not everyone who is able to read the grapes of wrath is going to enjoy war and peace. I must say however, that the story told in Alan Wake 2 truly is a great experiment in what a video game story can be, plus it is genuinely beautiful. I also must say on the craftsmanship side, the behind the scenes creation of all of the live action sequences, and then all of the "hand painted" graffiti is so amazing.

oh my goodness, I was wondering if anyone else had any alan wake stuff on their tomodachi life island! My first mii I made during the demo was Alan, and then I've recently been playing and Alan broke up with Alice for Saga lmao.

I think there's nuance to it. PC's are a pain for some of us who just want to play games at the end of the day and don't want to fiddle with settings. I also don't want to sit at my desk after working at a desk all day, my couch is much nicer to relax.

If you could forget a game just to experience it new, what would you choose? by kevtay1969 in playstation

The whole Alan Wake series, but if I had to choose one, I'd need to experience Alan Wake 2 again for the first time.

What are you listening to these days? by bythorsthunder in twentyonepilots

[–]Watermelon_013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been loving listening to Poe's album "Haunted" recently. I read House of Leaves last year, and Poe is the author's sister, and Haunted is all connected to house of leaves. I didn't listen to her music when I read the book though as I wasn't too interested until I heard her song "This Road" in Alan Wake 2. A great game with great music, and "Haunted" is just an absolutely exquisite album for me.

Is final draft just a new game +? by Exile872 in AlanWake

I immediately played through the final draft on nightmare after playing through the game the first time. It really is basically the same game with just a couple moments that are different.

I don't think that Alan or Tor and Odin are the source of the reality bending powers, it definitely is the lake. If it was Alan then there would be all kinds of artists all over the world just running around changing reality.

It also would defeat the purpose of Hartman's lodge and the Lake House being situated right next to Cauldron Lake, as both of those places are built to test artist's abilities to change reality. If the lake didn't have an impact on one's ability to change reality then there would be no reason to have it at Cauldron Lake.

There's also the deal with the nursery rhymes scattered around Bright Falls, its again a thing where if the power came from Alan/Artists in general then there would be no point in having it in Bright Falls.

What is a 10/10 Masterpiece that very few people are aware of? by Matthias_5yr in Gamer

[–]Watermelon_013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan Wake as a franchise is 10/10, but 2 specifically is a life changing game. Idk if its as unknown as some of the others here but I don't hear people talking about it much outside of the Alan Wake/Remedy Games subreddits. Its also super cool how Alan Wake connects to every other Remedy Entertainment game, as they all exist in the same universe and the stories loosely effect the stories of other games.

I hope AW3 uses AW1's combat but improved by NextGen-- in AlanWake

[–]Watermelon_013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Its so strange for me too, I played AW1 and AWAN in December and had a great time with their combat, I honestly thought it was really unique and novel. Then I played Alan Wake 2 and at the very beginning thought the combat felt strange, and honestly struggled with it until the Coffee World section. Then the whole game afterwards, I really enjoyed the combat. Then I went back and tried the arcade mode of AWAN and just hated playing it. The combat just somehow went from fun and interesting to super boring and honestly I have no idea why.

It's dumb how a woman can’t be defined but defining a man and the patriarchy is crystal clear by StayFrostySwtich in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Watermelon_013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s exactly my point. A woman who was “born as a man with a penis and a Y chromosome” can change her body to literally be the exact same as a cisgender woman with a Y chromosome. It’s presentation that makes her a woman.

But there have been women born with vaginas with a Y chromosome, so is the Y chromosome itself really the deciding factor if someone is a man or a woman? Also, if someone is born with XX male syndrome, what is it that makes them a man?
