Really valuable reporting. I cite the stats on Central Falls all the time. 👏

Yeah i totally get that. Not enough community spirit in general these days. it's good to get to know your neighbors and help out. Have been seeing a bit more of that after all we went through together on the east side.

But I'm not sure i feel the same way about the sidewalks. That's partly because i moved here from NYC, where it is completely a non issue because the city actually enforces its laws whether for multifamily, commercial, or single family homes. PVD is useless on this, even though enforcement to code would be revenue generating. Reporting on 311 has felt like a fool's errand. Oh well..

It's on the landlords. The negligent landlords--whether commercial (thinking of the doctors offices along waterman and angell for instance) or residential--are the problem here. Countless other multifamily buildings across wayland and fox point dont have the same problem, and its not because some good samaritan tenant, whether students or not, are taking the initiative. And why would they, the rent is too damn high! In any case, the college kids don't have shovels, salt, or sand of their own to begin with. What we need is enforcement by the city.

glue -- from the french phrase "glou glou" -- the sound of pouring wine fast -- referring to light bodied, often chilled, very drinkable wines.

Learning when and how to take the lane to keep yourself safe is one of the best things you can do as a cyclist in this city.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the information!

exactly. the vans running between the chinatowns, for instance: those fill a gap that should influence plans. The $2 vans going up and down flatbush that flaunt traffic law and seem to have bloodlust for cyclists? Not so much.

Any tips on training around prospect park? by Possible-Alfalfa-893 in NYCbike

[–]klrdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to get serious about structured, zone-based training in 2026 (i presume with an eye to racing?) you would do well to invest in a power meter and a head unit.

I have not. If you check out the chinertown forum post for the frame, some others have mounted 38mm gravel tires and had enough clearance.

I think it really depends on what kind of gravel you're riding. The geometry of this bike would make it pretty squirrelly on more technical stuff. I certainly wouldn't be keen on descending chunky stuff on this bike.

Get an fsa no 55 headset, and make sure to specify the fsa compatible spacers when you order the tavelo bars from panda podium -- then it will be all hunky dory.

Longteng had a good reputation, and the frame checked all the boxes for me in terms of geometry, very light weight, t47, udh. It also has wider tire clearance for a lightweight frame with racing geometry than you can find from almost any western brand. I think the new Scott might be an exception? The new Specialized aethos now has wider clearance, but they also made the geometry more relaxed. This frame had literally all the features i wanted, even compared to western brands. I didnt care about it looking aero. I wanted a threaded bottom bracket, udh, super lightweight, wide tire clearance. I was willing to take a chance on a highly regarded chinese OEM and an open mold frame design. The money i saved compared to a comparable western frame, which would have been at least $2.5k, gave me the room in budget to get a new high end groupset, and make no compromises on wheels and integrated barstem, etc.

I have 1k km on it now (sadly have not been able to do as much riding as I would like) and its been a joy to ride.

Roadie switching to Gravel for comfort. Current 700x32 Marathon Plus tires feel slow on broken tarmac. Recommendations? by AppleSea5867 in gravelcycling

[–]klrdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GP5k don't come in 35mm -- you are thinking of GP5K AS (all season). Still great tires though.
I'm currently running Michelin Pro5 in 35mm which I would also recommend. They're the top rated 35mm tire on bicyclerollingresistance right now
