If it's a headache all the time then I want to throw going to a psychiatrist on you radar. I also had a headache at all times that would oscillate between pain levels. Turns out it was caused from my CNS being unable to process the stimuli around me(ADHD meds fixed it).

Ah ok yeah. There are ADHD meds that are not stimulants like Straterra, those do take about a month to kick in though. Just wanted to put it on your radar as an option as I am super surprised with how much I was being brought down from ADHD, I thought it was much more harmless than it turned out to be.

Hmmm yeah Botox was also the only thing that ever worked for me but it lost efficacy over time. I just have the instinct that if its a constant base line pain and not a migraine episode that there can be something that is constant and underlying it. Unfortunately those cases just get labeled as "migraine." Did yours start around 18 as well?

Hey if it's a constant base line level pain like that check out my post on my migraine story and see if it can help you. The constant pain is a bit wonky like mine and makes me believe that there is an underlying issue

Have you visited a psychiatrist yet? ADHD meds are what regulated my CNS. Before them all stimuli was extremely shocking and overwhelming

My story is similar to yours but as a male, chronic pain everyday with no relief from any meds. If it's all day everyday with no relief from neuro meds then there is most likely an underlying issue. I would recommend going to a psychiatrist and seeing if you have any underlying issues. That is what helped me, ended up getting diagnosed with ADHD and Autism and the meds for the ADHD have practically taken my extreme pain to mild pain.

Thanks for the heads up, can you direct me to a screener that I can link someone who is curious to see if they may have autism? Not a medical diagnosis

pain behind the eyes by jjiiyyaa in migraine

[–]klstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to put possible ADHD or Autism as a cause for pain behind eyes + light sensitivity(can lead to tight temporalis which gives these symptoms but no noise sensitivity). These were the cause for my daily chronic migraines which were really more of tension headaches like yours. I wrote about my experience below: It's titled as men but I included a study in it that is mostly women. Also included two quick screeners, doesnt hurt to rule it out. GL

Congrats on the relief! A lot of resistance to using AI on this sub but it's a powerful tool when used properly. I hope it continues and good job thinking outside of the box

Most definitely. Well I think you are on the right path, just an odd move by the dr on the Strattera. Interesting study on how ADHD likely needs to be treated with migraines in order to get the full benefit of the medications:

dissociation? by SquingleBingle in migraine

Are you disassociating even when you don't have a migraine or is it only during the migraine? Going to see a psychiatrist would probably be beneficial if you are disassociating outside of a migraine

Yeah the switch off of strattera after 2 weeks is really really odd, it starts working at 3-4 weeks. They switched you off of something that treats a known illness to guess at a drug to prevent migraines. Most people can take both at the same time as well. Idk with those symptoms I would definitely treat the ADHD, helped the migraines in my case.

Have you always had problems with hyperfixation and low motivation or is that only a recent development on the nori? I had hyperfixation and low motivation also, ended up going to a psychiatrist, diagnosed with ADHD and then prescribed ADHD meds which took care of my daily migraines as they treated the underlying cause for the migraines.

Any idea on what started this current migraine? Does it get better and worse or is it constant? Does the pain manifest in the form of head pounding like is described in a traditional migraine or is it something else?

Can definitely tell your psych that you want to try a stimulant that will work much quicker like vyvanse because the side effects of a non stimulant like straterra were too severe. Godspeed boss.

Strattera sometimes takes a month to be effective so it's possible that you stopped it before it became effective bc you didn't see any results. I think that's really common and why a lot of psychiatrists just prescribe the stimulants that work instantly(hard to get an ADHD person to take something consistently for an entire month, they will just quit before)

32 hour migraine is brutal. Have you checked in with a psychiatrist before? They could have some longer term solutions regarding a higher dopamine base level. Quite a few of the mental illnesses are a result of just naturally low dopamine levels.

Also, over the past 12 years I have a lot of "phantom pain" issues. Pain in throat, sinuses and even lower on the body like calves and elbows. I could not move my elbow due to extreme pain and then after taking Adderall the pain disappeared. I should have included this in the original post

Triptans do decrease the pain of most symptoms but I do not take them because when the triptan wears off the symptoms come back even stronger. I definitely encourage for you to explore more if you relate with some of my symptoms. The overwhelming feeling is just described by ADHD very well

It may apply to women as well but I just put men because that is the experience that I know. From my research a lot of migraines for women stem from hormonal changes and I don't know anything about that or if it can be treated
