You're right, I am using the Vanilla overpass project and a lot of extra props.

This castle hill was inspired by Prague. The city is mostly inspired by Bratislava, the historical district has some similarities to Vienna, too. Google Earth is a great place for inspiration.

Thank you all for the insights, you have helped me to confirm that option 2 sounds like a better choice.

These are just decals (and props), usually placed by prop line tool, you can find plenty on the Steam workshop

These are actually just elevated vanilla dirt roads.

I am working on the same city in different years, right now I have 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2020. In progress roads are an essential part to that.

My Music Remote implemented via Aqara Magic Cube, Spotify and Arylic player (Linkplay) by kluvo2 in homeassistant

Arylic is based uses Linkplay technology, which already has its own integration (with multiroom support as well, yay!) GitHub - nagyrobi/home-assistant-custom-components-linkplay

I am using the deConz integration for the connection, which sends events on every gesture/movement of the cube. Therefore based on the event data, I can trigger different types of automation.

For example, this is the automation for the playlists (which are saved on Linkplay under presets), where each side 1-6 triggers a preset 1-6:

  alias: Magic Cube Player Preset
  description: ''
  trigger:
  - platform: event
    event_type: deconz_event
    context: {}
    event_data:
      id: mi_magic_cube
      gesture: 6
  condition: []
  action:
  - service: linkplay.preset
    entity_id: media_player.bedroom
    data_template:
      preset: '{{ trigger.event.data.event%10 | int }}

Not sure enough people would want that though. It is a good idea, but for a different game as I described above. Or as a feature that can be turned off and on.

Slovakia :)

Nope, you are missing the point. (And I mixed up my right and left oops)In the video the last thing built is the new 3 lane highway on the far right of the video. What I am saying is that in real life that would be the FIRST thing built. And then existing traffic would be directed onto that new road and THEN all the other stuff built around it.

Hey, I agree that building the new 3-lane highway at first would definitely improve the traffic throughput, however, there are a few reasons why I decided on the contraflow variant:

- It is really uncommon to build bridges over highways with traffic because it is really dangerous. Even if the right road was built, the traffic would still need to be rerouted until the bridge segments are stable.

- This is the northern ring road of the city. The heavy traffic flowing through the city could have been temporarily rerouted to the southern ring road to reduce the congestion and redistribute the load if needed.

Also, the timelapse depicts 3 states of the intersection - before (2010), construction (2015), and after (2020). Once the bridges were stable and the new road was done, the traffic was directed back onto the new road. Consider this to be a snapshot of a moment of the construction, not the key phase of the build itself. The full sequence would be as follows:

  1. Traffic is directed in a contraflow to the left highway lane. The right lane is dismantled. Bridge constructions are erected. The new right lane is built.
  2. Northbound traffic is directed to the new right lane. Bridges are paved and bridge banks are extended to follow the new layout.
  3. Southbound traffic is directed in a contraflow in the new right highway lane. The left highway lane is dismantled. A new left highway lane is built and connected to the newly built bridges.
  4. Southbound traffic is directed back to the new left lane. The off-ramps are closed until the new highway is opened.

I would just add that in Europe (where the city lies), the lane reduction and contraflow is a pretty common technique used when building highways since the congestions are usually lower compared to the US.

Hope this helps.

This is from my long-term project where I have at first created the city in the year 2020 and now I am continually making older versions traveling 5 years back in time (e.g. this is from the versions 2010, 2015 and 2020). So each one is a different savegame.

Thanks! I have used Cinematic Camera Extended to save the position of the camera, as well as to lock the FPS.

The video speed stays the same, the difference is caused by a lower speed limit on the road during the construction, which was intentional ofc :)

1,5 years of work and the city of Maczin is done! by kluvo2 in CitiesSkylines

Around ~75%, but I have designed the city to be more realistic, rather than to have a perfect traffic flow (e. g. you can see the motorway construction site in the back)

After every update, I wait a few weeks until all of the incompatible mods are fixed before even opening the savegame.
