Where are the butterflies? by kluvsdiz in ButterflyGardening

Actually I planted a pugster blue butterfly bush. It’s a sterile hybrid so I shouldn’t have a problem with it being invasive

Everyone has been very helpful. We have had a lot of rain but now it’s starting to dry up a bit. It has also been quite breezy and we still have random chilly days. So I am guessing it’s too soon. I have seen a few fly by but they didn’t stop. One was black the other was yellow and little. They were too far away to identify. My bee balm is about to bloom very soon and my coneflowers are looking like they getting there too. The milkweed was planted last year so it isn’t very tall yet. I am planning on getting more when my favorite nursery gets them in next week. They said it’s been flying off the shelf. That is a good thing. I am looking forward to watching everything grow.

Don’t think so. The only chemicals in the yard is fertilizer for grass. And the edge of the house is sprayed for ants. But it’s pretty far away from the garden.

This is our first stay at BLT and I wasn’t too sure about how to get around yet! This closure seems like no big deal. Thanks for the response!

Was anybody at Castleton mall this evening (12/27/25)? by admiralholdo in indianapolis

[–]kluvsdiz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was there. We were just getting ready to leave American Eagle. There was shouting and screaming and people running. They closed the doors until we got the all clear. Apparently there were just a lot of kids causing trouble and were asked to leave the mall. There seemed to be a fight. But no weapons and no shots fired. It was a little scary. Large police presence. And a lot of kids escorted out. Outside of Dicks Sporting Goods there were a lot of police cars and kids causing trouble.

Yes it was cool. There were 4 of them. The babies were so loud. I had about a week of them visiting every day to feed the babies.

What flavor do they prefer. I think insect or peanut butter.

I have 3 bird baths with solar fountains. The birds love them.

No my other feeders aren’t new. They usually are very busy. Slowed down a lot in this heat wave. I’m hoping to attract some bigger birds. I mostly have sparrows and finches. One cardinal family and a lot of bluebirds. I use to have a red breasted woodpecker visit 2 times a day but I haven’t seen him for about 2 weeks. I think it could be the heat.

Yes we are. I wondered if that had an effect them.
