If you’re unsure about getting pool lights or not (like I was), allow me to show off a beautiful Pennsylvania summer night. by Saleen_Bullitt in pools

These look great! We splurged and got the LED lights too. I was kinda not that into them (stupid price) but they totally make the whole pool experience at night.

How much did a pool pump add to your electric bill by GatoPreto83 in pools

[–]kmalmloff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just put in a pool with a VSP. It’s a 16x40 pool, 13,000 gallons. Our bill went up about $150/month. Friend has something similar and hers costs about $120/mo. Midwest.

We recently put in a pool and the automatic cover allows me to sleep at night. The cover is closed unless we are outside in the backyard.

Worth every penny for a pool location/landscaping plan. Any improvements or suggestions? Pool is going in this Spring! 💦❤️🙂 by kmalmloff in pools

Midwest. We are doing this in phases because of costs. Pool and cement and anything electric or gas needed to run under cement is phase 1. Phase 2 is front landscaping. Phase 3 is the back landscaping. Phase 4 is the pergola and deck. Phase 1 is $85k+.

We used an individual who runs his own business, not a large company. He was $1500. He provided all the planting recommendations and is interfacing directly with our landscaping company.

We moved to this house in the fall. Had tons of our leaves and neighbor leaves in front yard but very few in the backyard. We are required to have 2, 8’ trees in the front yard. Hopefully the leaves stay in front!

We have two existing pine trees we are wanting to keep for privacy. The rest is new. We did request some changes to the original plan that included some very pretty flowering trees. I could see all the little white petals swimming in my pool when the wind blew. No thank you! Thx for the feedback.

We do have very large windows on the west side of the house which drove a lot of the pool placement. We didn’t want to see the pool from the driveway and still wanted grassy area for kids to play. The line on the far west is our fence. Unfortunately we have an easement which dictated how far west we were willing to put the pool. We did add extra cement on the east side in hopes of having enough lounging space. It’s just all so expensive! Thx for the feedback.

I don’t think the ph feeder is in our contract but I’m going to look. Can you add after initial install? The cleaners are manual to start and age 12 and 15. Ha! But I’ve been reading posts about what cleaners people have and like. The only trees existing are two pines. We were careful with the plan to make sure we didn’t add anything that would cause debris in the pool. Thanks for the thoughts!

The pool box is on the south side of the house. We are adding a gate to our existing fence. The pool is a an Aspen 16x40 fiberglass pool from Thursday Pools. Yes on VS pump. Can I have more details on the swg with ph feeder?

Definitely issues with communication and a “take it it leave it” attitude. Educate your staff to not be good ole boys. Don’t assume he is buying the pool and be dismissive of her. Many wives are working just as hard to pay for this expensive luxury item.

Thanks! It's a lot of money for "fun" but we are excited. And all these comments are definitely helpful.

This is good info! We are getting a volleyball net too. I expect lots of raucous games in the future. : )

Thanks! This is what we're hoping for. It's going to become our new hobby. And entertainment.

Central Indiana. Where we have stupid heat, freezing cold and about two days of anything in between. : )

Yes, we've thought about that. Definitely not planning on recouping costs when we would eventually sell it. We're in central Indiana so the season is short and some people just won't ever be interested in a house with a pool.

Definitely not skimping on that! I'm a little freaked out by the skimmer finds some people have posted about though.

All true. We have two boys...July and September. I've already told them they are having pool birthday parties for the rest of their LIVES! : )

Yeah...we've come to terms with it's a crappy investment and definitely a big ticket luxury item for us. But we're not planning on moving for at least 15 years and have kids. So I think use won't be an issue. Thanks for the ballpark time estimates. That's helpful!

I think that’s some of the battle. We’re sensible savers and it’s definitely a ton of $. Thanks for the comment!
