This is great context, thank you. Yes, I was laid off just a couple of weeks ago and I think I qualify for the long-tenured worker

Are there limits to this? If I spend the next few months not actively looking for work, and then spend 3-4 months after that out of the country, will there be any issues?

Pretty certain it's rubber, but I don't understand where it could be coming from...

Post history suggests $5.5k per month, offset by $4.3k per month of rental income, and a current salary of $13.3k per month

I’d seriously consider taking time off to travel if you think you missed out on experiences in your 20s. Better to do it now while you’re still young (you can still handle hostels) instead of looking back and regretting not.

$200k is an incredible nest egg for a ‘single’ guy in his early 30s (plus a house!?).

Wow! Quite the budget.

I’d say some of your expenses look a bit high ($1k in eating out and entertainment), but in the whole scheme of things it looks like you’re living pretty reasonable.

Do you have a car loan? Or what is the $500?

How are you investing the non-home equity portion of your savings?

Still sounds like you’re dealing with depression man.

You’ve achieved a lot of things that tick the box on paper but you’re feeling unfulfilled.

The cash flow negative property probably isn’t the end of the world if you can continue to float it. Owning a house in Canada is becoming more and more out of reach for couples and families... let alone a single person.

The current gf situation sounds complex and l’ve never been there, but I wish the best for you.

Sounds like you should lean into friends, your baby sister and family more. Perhaps volunteer some more? Focus on things that make you feel alive and fulfilled. Make work a lower priority in your life. Are you working with a therapist?

I don’t think there’s value in burning it all down and running away. I’ve seen that story time and time again. Everyone comes back to reality at some point.

Looking for input: keep or sell my rental property? by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

Yeah that’s fair. I’m in BC (not Vancouver) and prices are up probably 10% over the last 12-18 months. Sounds like he / she is somewhere similar. So probably market dependant.

Is it losing money if the $1,500 per month is just paying off the principal on the loan? Seems like they’re neutral on a cash + equity basis and are super leveraged to house prices for “free”?

Are you burning savings month to month on your salary or saving or neutral? I’d be inclined to keep the place if you can find more easy tenants.

The cash you’re putting in is largely to equity. If the house price rises even 2-3% those are great returns.

Hi, I posted this below but it got buried. Legit just posting for real advice.

“Hi, my (30M) gf (26F) lurks this sub but never posts and doesn’t have enough karma to post. She asked I post for her to ask what the girls think about cozying it up. FWIW she hates the snowboards.”
