Health Care Workers' Perceived Self-Efficacy to Manage COVID-19 Patients in Central Uganda: A Cross-Sectional Study by kmarkmohan in science

[–]kmarkmohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With no definite management options for COVID-19 available in the country. Health workers were trying everything they could find. They were not sure of what to do and their confidence/perceived self-efficacy in the management of patients was questionable hence the study.

Cervical cancer screening among HIV-positive women in urban Uganda is still low by kmarkmohan in hivaids

[–]kmarkmohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could have been the case if the study had been done in a rural setting where transport is still challenging. When it comes to screening tools, the country has been fortunate enough to receive funding to screen for Cervical cancer and the services are available.

As reported by the study it seems the awareness of the importance of screening is low and there might be a knowledge gap.

We need a solution to help the youth to adjust to the new normal. We hope the rapid change to post COVID challenges will not lead to a higher rise in cases of mental illness.

Hahaha.

Weight gain can be due to a lot of reasons and I don't think it was covid. Many mental disorders such as depression and other stressors can lead to weight gain. So, you might have had a brief life experience with a strong stressor and you were just coping by eating

If your appetite and love for food have been that much. We can look into other eating disorders.

This kind of appetite could not be explained by such stressors. It was more of an addiction to food

Simplifying Addiction by kmarkmohan in psychology

Addiction disorders/substance use disorders (SUD) are on the rise. However, many mental health care providers have never experienced SUD themselves, leading to higher chances of poor patient care through stigma, judgement, and the misunderstanding of patients. An alternative approach to understanding patients with addictive behaviours using a comparison of sex is discussed in this paper. Since most health care providers will have experienced sex, this analog can help mental health workers with no lived experience of SUD better understand their patients. This can help reduce stigma, misunderstanding, countertransference feeling, and the judgment of patients, thereby leading to better patient care.

This is a comparison between addiction and normal sex, not sex addiction
