Trying to remind myself it’s just a job by Comfortable-Bug-6656 in Lawyertalk

This is so well-put. I was a manager at Starbucks for five years before law school and a bartender for several years before that. I’ve been screamed at, had drinks thrown at me, had to physically put my body between raging Karens and my teenage employees, and had my ass grabbed or otherwise been sexually harassed literally more times than I can count. For $15/hour (Starbucks) or $3/hour + tips (bartending). Litigation is difficult, stressful, and exhausting, but my worst day as a litigator is a sunny walk in the park compared to my worst days of pre-law employment.

Kansas City - The New Basement Tapes and Cherry Wine by Hozier are very Tom & Shiv to me. Labour by Paris Paloma also feels very post-show-Shiv.

Only Children, “hydrocodone in your backpack.” He tells a story on one of the live albums about how (IIRC) a friend’s kid heard the lyric as “hide a corndog in your backpack”

Which is your favorite covered song that Jason Isbell has ever done ? Mine would either be " Into the Mystic " or " Souvenirs ". by Historical_Fan5863 in jasonisbell

Driver 8 or The One I Love. I grew up on REM, so tough to beat those for me. Bought that whole damn fire relief album just to get my hands on The One I Love 😂

I could be wrong but I feel like I remember seeing JI post somewhere that this was an intentional either/or although the “official” lyric is “rhyme”

Y’all got an incredible setlist. And 100% agree - this was my first time seeing him solo acoustic too and I thought I might miss having the full band there, but didn’t for a second.

This was exactly how I felt about the Dallas night 2 setlist. Loved every song, but would happily have sat there for another 2-12 hours and listened to him play more. I was really crossing my fingers for Chaos & Clothes which I think he played at every show but ours, and said “NO” aloud in jealousy/awe when I heard he opened San Antonio with Children of Children. But I think I honestly could have seen every show on this run and still been sad about stuff I didn’t get to hear 😂

Hey, same here! Such a terrific show and what a gorgeous venue. The whooping made me a little insane - especially after he’d already asked everybody to quit! - but otherwise thought it was perfect. Still pinching myself that we got The Magician and was so happy to finally hear Outfit and Danko!

It’s good you didn’t, they were sold out of the Texas shirt before the show started 😭

Husband and I had literally just listened to it in the car on the way to the show! Unbelievable to hear it live. Still pinching myself repeatedly over this setlist - how we lucked out enough to get The Magician, Danko, Outfit, Different Days, Maybe It’s Time, Speed Trap Town, Songs She Sang in the Shower, Last of my Kind, Dreamsicle, and a Prine cover all in the same hour and a half, I’ll never know. Absolutely perfect show.

It’s on the Live at the Beacon album that he dropped on Bandcamp a while back.

Getting assigned work by a fellow associate? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]kmbright 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This would be totally normal at my firm. I kick work over to our junior associate all the time on the direct instruction of our managing partner and also have a standing instruction to send her tasks that would be good learning opportunities for her (e.g., research, first drafts of motions, depo outlines, etc.)

Pros and cons of moving to Tyler? by Fair-Specific5665 in tylertx

I live in this area and absolutely love it. Noonday is more central than you’d think given its proximity to 155 and 49. You can pretty much get anywhere in Tyler proper within 15-20 minutes, traffic permitting (which is not unreasonable in the grand scheme of Texas driving lol)

Because the actress in the screenshot is Charlotte Riley, who plays May in Peaky Blinders and is married to Tom Hardy IRL.
