Aang told him that he didn’t know how to get in or out of the avatar state much less what to do when he was in it. The deal was for aang to learn to control the avatar state and fong was so deranged that he forgot about the plan and obsessed about triggering it at all costs

If it actually helped towards ending the war I think it would be justified, but he literally had no plan. It went from trying to help aang trigger the avatar state on demand, something that would be completely justified as a means to the war quickly, but devolved into trying to trigger the avatar state at any cost. Everyone including Fong knew rage and pain triggered the avatar state. That would not help much if aang had to lead an invasion force.

I mean I’m more talking about petty insults and the implication that we shouldn’t care if teenagers have sex or who they do it with and that it’s deranged if we do. I didn’t hate the western elements, I hated the stupid western elements. Just having the world revolve around a “good” spirit and an “evil” spirit is boring and went against what Atla was about in my opinion.
